Broadcaster, journalist and biographer Anita Anand was born in 1972 and educated at King’s College, London..
Her broadcasting career began in the newsroom of satellite channel Zee and she won the Nazia Hassain Award in the category ‘Upcoming Television Broadcaster’ in 2005. She has since presented several news and current affairs programmes for BBC radio and television, notably on Radio 5 Live and currently Radio 4’s ‘Any Answers’. On BBC2 she has co-hosted ‘The Daily Politics’ show and presented ‘Newsnight’.
Her first book, Sophia: Princess, Suffragette, Revolutionary, a biography of a campaigner for women’s suffrage and Indian independence, was published in 2015.
She opened the 2014 Kolkata Book Fair and has also appeared at the Jaipur Literature Festival, most recently in January 2015. She is married to the science writer Simon Singh and lives in London.

Mandeep Singh is Certified Corporate Trainer has over 15 years of teaching experience and possesses a proven track record of conducting and designing various trainings and workshops for all age groups. She has been extensively trained by the British Council and is a qualified ELT trainer. She holds a Level 5* certificate in Teaching of English to the Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA) from University of Cambridge and is an accredited Examiner for Cambridge English Language Assessment exams.

About the Event: Young Learners Reading club connects young children in a fun, creative and educational way. The reading club not only aims to encourage children to read more widely but also helps build their confidence and public speaking skills. During the session we read aloud the text and describe images from the books, re-tell the story in the children’s own words and carry out playful activities based on the book.
