Mastering Ethereum: Building Smart Contracts and DApps by Antonopolos is a must read for anyone who is interested in the future of smart contracts and distributed Ledger technology. In his book, Antonopoulos shows how smart contract platforms can help you build your own apps on top of the internet using ethically hosted blockchains. If you have any thoughts about how you could use ethically hosted blockchains to build your own smart contract or smart city, then I highly recommend you read this book. It's a great primer and walk through to help get you started with building the future of the internet.
One of the most exciting features of ethically hosted or self-owned project is the ability to customize your contract. You can use your own unique logic when designing smart contract protocols and the execution environment. There are no business rules and anyone can modify the code they write. This flexibility allows you and other self-employed contractors to design and execute smart contract protocols that meet their own specific needs without having to go through a gatekeeper.
Another feature of this book that really caught my attention was the focus on open source code. This is something that many businesses forget to consider. Remember, smart contracts are just that, they are smart because they are run on computers run on logic. So if the smart contract can be run elsewhere, then it can also be modified and run where you want it to. Open source code can enable you and others to do just that.
