Asking the Right Questions (11th Edition) PDF File
Asking the Right Questions by Browne is a text book on intelligence and its related topics such as intelligence, creativity, reasoning, learning, problem solving, and more. It is important to remember that all humans are not alike, and each one has, perhaps, a different " IQ "--and an entirely different " Intelligence. Intelligence is a very relative term; one can be highly intelligent and another extremely less so, depending on what one is asked to analyze, and what their "area of concentration" is. In other words, one person's intelligence may be highly abstract, while another's may be much more concrete and detailed. This highly popular and influential book helps readers to cross the gap between blindly accepting or blindly memorizing information, and the much greater challenge of synthesizing and critically evaluating information.
The main theme of this text book is asking the right questions. For instance, in this text book, Robert Abbey asks "What is intelligence, if not the ability to ask the right questions?" And he asks those questions throughout the text, from the beginning to the end. His overall point is that we need to take the time to carefully look at what our intelligence truly is, how it differs from each other, what kinds of tests are useful to measuring it, and how other disciplines such as art, music, literature, film, etc. can provide us with a window into our true level of intelligence.
I enjoyed this book and found it to be relatively easy to read. There were a few questions here and there, but overall, my enjoyment of reading this book was only about five to ten minutes long at most. I found myself asking a few questions after reading a chapter, such as "What does this mean for the rest of my life?" or "Is there any significance to knowing this today?" I liked the way that Abbey asks these questions, and I believe that his intentions are good, however this book might need to be rearranged some to meet the demands of the various chapters a couple more times to make it flow well.
