Fifty Shades of Grey has become one of the biggest publishing phenomenon since it was first published in 2021. It's still being read today and gaining popularity and is now the fastest selling book ever in its category. The main characters in this steamy novel are Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey. Ana is a young, sexy, aspiring writer in New York who meets Christian, a handsome and successful entrepreneur in Bangkok, on a blind date. He quickly charms her with his charm and sensuality, and they begin a three-way affair that takes them to each other's hotel room in order to continue their sexual intimacy. When Ana returns home, she is shocked to discover that Christian has been spending most of his money on hiring girls to give him pleasure.

Fifty Shades of Grey was eventually released as a blockbuster movie by Universal Pictures and Focus Features. Although the movie failed to achieve the sales of the other books in the trilogy, it was a box office hit and made director James Mangold a name in Hollywood. Fifty Shades of Grey was made into a very successful theatre play by playwright Donmaru Pichikarin. However, the movie did not do as well at the box office as anticipated and only managed to earn $3.7 million. This is largely due to the inferior quality of the movie, combined with a rather bare depiction of what a steamy, erotic relationship between a male and a female should be like. In fact, the movie showcased the baser instincts of men in a rather crude and chauvinistic manner.
Fifty Shades of Grey's success has also inspired a whole new genre of books, which are based on the controversial novels. These are usually referred to as Erotic Romance and portray situations where two people who are involved in an intimate relationship turn to romantic literature for guidance and comfort. Many of these Erotic Romance books have taken the tale of Fifty Shades of Grey and adapted it to the bedroom. This has resulted in a rise in books regarding sex and relationships that include erotic scenes, instead of just describing them.
