elPrep 5 released

Last December, we have released a new version of elPrep, namely elPrep 5, with binaries of that application being available since last week. elPrep is a high-performance tool for analyzing .sam/.bam files in DNA sequencing pipelines, up to and - since version 5 - now also including variant calling. You can find elPrep 5 at the elPrep GitHub repository at https://github.com/exascience/elprep

We have also just published a paper about multithreaded variant calling in elPrep 5 at https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0244471 that describes how we extended the elPrep framework for this purpose, and what the performance improvements look like compared to other tools.
