Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends!

Welcome to the Google Group: ELP-channel - the new home of the ELP-
Digest mailing list that was created back in 1991 (!!) as a way for
Emerson, Lake & Palmer fans to share information with each other.

In addition to information about ELP (the band), this group also tries
to provide accurate and up-to-date information about the past,
present, and future group and/or solo projects of Keith Emerson, Greg
Lake, and Carl Palmer. The information provided is not officially
sanctioned by ELP or their management though I welcome their
participation.

The ELP Digest web site continues on (at elp-digest.com or brain-
salad.com - the 2 domains point to the same place) and will continue
to house the archives of the ELP Digest from its earliest days in 1991
through to the latest issue (published in April 2011). Over time, I
expect the web sites to be modernized and better organized as a fan-
based ELP archive that will house (digitally) some original material
as well as help fans find other ELP material that exists on the web.

As the original source of ELP information on the internet, the ELP
Digest - as a mailing list and now as a Google Group and as a web site
- remains committed to a high signal-to-noise ratio, keeping your
inbox as uncluttered as possible, and providing the best and most
accurate ELP information we can find.

Whether you're a new member of the ELP Digest community or someone
who's been around since the early days, thanks for your participation
and your contributions.

Enjoy!

Please note that one of the features of the ELP-channel as a 'Google
Group' is that you can manage the amount of email you get in response
to group activity. The choices range from:

'none' - you're a member but decide you only want to see the group
activity via the web interface
'email' - every post/reply sends a separate email message to your
email address
'digest' - about once a day (or less, if no activity) listing all of
the posts/replies since the previous day
'summary' - about once a day with a summarization of posts/replies but
not their full text

This self-service of how you want to participate is something that I
was never able to achieve using my home-grown mailing list maintenance
of the ELP Digest. I hope you find it helpful.

Basic ground rules:

To keep the information flow as timely as possible, I am going to try
to stay out of the way and moderate as little as possible. However,
the intent of this group is to provide a friendly place for news and
conversation about all things 'ELP'. We don't always have to agree but
we should be civil to each other. So, let's not get into personal
bashing, name calling, etc. of one another - especially if we
disagree.

I want to keep the signal-to-noise ratio high while I get rid of the
old 'hand editing' days of the ELP Digest. But, if/when necessary, I
will moderate/delete posts that cross the line.
