I'm surprised to not see any talk about this amazing news.  At the end of July the 1st ELP album is being released in 5.1 surround, cd and dvd.  This remaster is being done by Steve Wilson of Porcupine Tree.  SW remastered several King Crimson albums along with Robert Fripp and they are amazing in the quality and sound.

I have mine pre-ordered and can hardly sleep for thinking about it.  I can't wait for Pictures to sound REALLY LIVE.  Tarkus is slated to be an August release.

A lot of Blu-ray players, with the right receiver will play these dvds containing the 5.1 engineering.

Here is a link to the page at www.burningshed.com where I ordered mine.  No one is making much of a fuss about this.  I don't get it...

Marc and Keith played this CD for Tony Ortiz and me when we had a chance to visit them in late May. It sounded superb! Can't wait to hear it again.

Where’ve you been hiding? J There’s been a lot of talk, especially on facebook pages, about these new releases for a few months now. http://www.facebook.elp.digest seems to be a good place to read up on them.

The first 2 to be released (“Emerson, Lake & Palmer” and “Tarkus”) are available for pre-order from amazon.co.uk for £9 each with free delivery – a bargain!

I don't do Facebook.  And I'm very happy that I don't do it.  But, I am glad that everybody but me knew about it  :)  What matters is that the word is out,,,that's what I was wondering about.

Join the Quadraphonicquad.com forum. The 5.1 releases have been being discussed since December. Steven Wilson has made some posts there along with the sound guy who is encoding the surround tracks to DVD-Audio
These remasters were actually done last summer and were scheduled for release in July 2012 but have now been delayed until September because SONY was talked into the DVD-Audio format instead of the DVD-Video/DTS releases.
So nobody has also heard they are supposedly doing most of ELP's back catalog this way?

Thanks for the info.  When I ran across this I found, somewhere on Steve Wilson's homepage, that he had signed on to do the first 6 ELP releases.  I think it was unclear if BSS would be one, since it already had a dvd audio release.  I would think it could have been done better IMO...I thought the bonus track of Lucky Man was the best surround track of the whole disc.
