Hi all,
I am sorry if I sound harsh but there is no activity that I see even when LOCUS is nearly only a month away. How many colleges have u reached? How many mailing lists (technical) have received invitation/notice regarding LOCUS.

Well, there might be a lot of things that you might be doing inside Pulchowk Campus but LOCUS is more of a brand (or at least it is supposed to be). And, unless you can pull the crowd from outside campus, you are gonna organize only a program that is failure even before it starts.

I am surprised that there has been so less change in the manner we spread the words about the event since the inception of LOCUS. We still focus on visiting every single college requesting participation. In the eventual process, miss out many or reach them too late to expect their active participation. I am not demeaning the value of such visits, but they have to be accompanied by more new methods.

In a tech-savvy event, arguably the best in the country, why is no one using technology to reach out to people? I would have expected the LOCUS committee to have come up with at least a fan page on Facebook, a twitter account. May be blog, regular discussion on this mailing list itself and when the actual event is about to come, a page to RSVP.

This was just one area I discussed but there are a lot of changes required in the way the event has been progressing. I request everyone who assume the responsibility to come out with some idea to make LOCUS  a better event.

And, if someone on LOCUS committee cares to read this email, I am expecting a reply email with the name of the twitter account to follow and the fan page link on Facebook at least. And, definitely, regular updates of things going on around.

still the same. Taking your words into mind we have created a twitter

we request everybody to follow locus on twitter at http://twitter.com/locus09

We have appraoched almost all private colleges and hope to get maximum
participation.

we are also posting about locus in FOSS mailing lists and working on
the maintenance of the website.

We request all to spread as much information they can to make LOCUS
2009 a grand success.

Lets all work together with full effort.
