Hannu Heikkinen, PhD, professor at the Finnish Institute for Educational Research at the University of Jyväskylä. Hannu Heikkinen is leading the research team Ecosocial Sustainability and Education of FIER. The aim is to develop education to forestall the great ecological risks of our time, the biggest of which are climate change and the sixth massive wave of extinction. When you follow the news and look around the world, the situation of the planet seems hopeless. Global warming is inevitable and species extinction threatens us in unpredictable ways. Where can you find sustainable hope for envisioning a better future? In this workshop, we will examine the foundations of sustainable hope based on the GreenComp sustainability competences and the future cone.
