Auto XML no longer supported in Sql

The query dbo.ELMAH_GetErrorsXml contains the "Auto XML" ..... this is no longer supported with Sql 2016 and my Dba group is insisting on removing the code with breaks ELMAH.... is there a work around or an update to the query
