Hi all,

We have just released Elkarbackup v2.0.1:

Debian/Ubuntu repositories and docker hub will be updated shortly.

CHANGELOG - 2.0.1

This is a bugfix release.

Bugfixes:

  • Fix tick command locking. This was creating various issues. Closes #530 .
  • Fix running a job remotely with token. Closes #533 .
  • Fix jon token generation. Closes #514 .
  • Don't set /var/spool/elkarbackup/backups permissions on install/update.
    It can be very slow if there are existing backups. Also, could remove
    user/groups of backups done with local permissions. Closes #529 #528 .
  • Fix public key download. Closes #500 .

Thx a lot for that great software. Using it now for over a year and it makes me pretty happy.

Even I am not a very experienced user I could get it run.

Will do soon the update and hope that it is as smooth as it can be and I do not run in to any big obstacles.. once it is done, I will provide a HowTo for the update process (1.3.5 to 2.0.1) for newbies like me if needed.

One question which is haunting me... I still run version 1.3.5 on a Ubuntu 18.04 LTS.

Can I just run then the 2.0.1 .deb package and the update takes place, correct? Or do I need to update anything on the distro before doing so?

Thx again for this great piece of work and I hope my question above is not too dump ...

Thanks a lot for your compliments.

We haven't tested Elkarbackup v2.0.0+ on Ubuntu 18.04 .

You should upgrade to Ubuntu 20.04 when upgrading Elkarbackup. Changing respositories in /etc/apt/sources.list and /etc/apt/sources.list.d/elkarbackup.list , and performing an apt-get update; apt-get dist-upgrade should do.
