Hello everyone,

We have recently pushed some Logger and GenEvent fixes to Elixir master.

For this reason, we will release Elixir 1.0.0-rc2 this weekend and we plan to release 1.0.0 final on September 10th.

Cheers!

Although I cant wait to see version 1.0 being released. Would it not be better to release it a few days later? I am sure the Apple announcement on 9.9 will suck out all the air in the technical circle, or pretty much everywhere else.

By the day after the announcement, the over-coverage from the
afternoon before will have everyone desperate for some non-Apple
related bit of news.

Or, you know, the Elixir 1.0 press release goes out with a
subheadline: "NOW OS X COMPLIANT!" to tap into that aura. ;-)

Congrats to all everyone for a truly expressive and functional 1.0 release.

Yeah, others have mentioned this concern too. We will likely still release on 10th but leave the official announcement (blog post) for the beginning of the next week. We have done this on previous releases and it gives time for package managers to update elixir,  projects to update their dependencies, review notes, etc.
