Dear Jimmy:
I am writing you on behalf of my father (Hong Son Cheung) who recently had a stroke and originally lives in South Jersey. To get him closer to my brother, who lives in Lebanon, NJ (I live in Pittsburgh, PA), we have moved him on a "temporary" basis to an Assisted Living home relatively close to your center named Brandywyne at Middlebrook. This place will provide him with the medical care that is needed right now and we hope that over time, he will recover and be close to or better than before the stroke and hopefully for him to go back to the independent living that he had before.
However, what we believe will give him the best opportunity to recover is to have a therapist (familiar with working with stroke victims) that can speak either mandarin, cantonese or Shanghainese. Although he has been in this country for more than 5 decades, it appears the stroke has made understanding his native languages to be easier rather than english.
I realize this is a real long shot, but we are trying to provide our father with the best opportunity to recover and hope you and the chinese community center can point us in the right direction for your area !
