Subject: Acclaimed Chinese documentary needs your help! Princeton NJ screening on May 26

Dear NJCCC,

Greetings!!! Sorry for this abrupt email, but we need your help!

My name is Lesley Qin and I am helping director Hao Wu to do the self-distribution of his award-winning documentary The Road to Fame. It tells the story of five students at China's top drama academy struggling with the complexities of modern China to stage the American musical "Fame." The film has been traveling in festivals worldwide. BBC, PBS, Hunan TV and CCTV will all broadcast the film. The Atlantic has called the film "an intimate and empathetic portrait of China's post-80s generation." The Hollywood Reporter said the film offers "a novel perspective on the first generation born under the one-child policy." The film just won the Grand Jury Prize and Best Editing at the past LA Asian Pacific Film Festival.

We are using this website called TUGG to do crowd-soursed screening. A connection of ours has requested a screening on May 26th and in order for this screening to happen, we have to sell over 95 tickets by May 19th. The ticket price is $12 each.  Tickets can be purchased at: http://www.tugg.com/events/9140

If the screening can happen, director Hao Wu will attend the screening for Q & A.

At this point the ticket sales is being slow. Since May 26th is a Memorial Day Holiday and this is the commencement season, we are hoping to engage as many people as possible.

We'd really appreciate it if NJCCC would help spread the word and encourage your subscribers in Princeton/NJ area to come and watch this informative and fun documentary.

The Road to Fame is the first Chinese documentary doing self-distribution in theaters and we really need a lot of help from Chinese organizations like yours. While there is not a lot we can offer in return to your gracious contribution, we would be happy to acknowledge your organization on our Facebook page to the 1000+ fans.

Please let me know if it is possible. I can be reached at 917-499-8381 should you have any questions or would like to discuss details.

Best regards,
Lesley Qin
