Invitation for Poila Boisakh Celebration

All,

As circulated earlier, EGV residents held a meeting on the above
subject in the EGV Resident’s Meeting Lounge on last Sunday
(05.04.15). In all 20 members attended the meeting. The participants
discussed the relevance of celebrating Bengali New Year and opined
that though it is called Bengali New Year(15 April 2015), but in
fact, it is a New Year for the whole of India as this is the time for
harvesting new crops. Almost every State of India celebrates New Year,
though the date may differ. Decisions taken unanimously in the above
meeting are as follows:

1. Bengali New Year of 2015 will be celebrated in the EGV auditorium
on 17 April, Friday as 15th has fallen on Weekday-Wednesday, on 18th
April there is a whole day developer’s meet, hence the clubhouse will
not be available. Hence 17th April has been chosen for the event

2. One hour Cultural Program consisting of dance, recitation, song,
music, drama, fancy dress show, quiz and culinary authenticity taste
of various States of India. The program will start at 7.30 P.M.to 8.30
P.M and will be followed by mouth watering dinner. It was also decided
that any regional songs and music are most welcome. Interested person
may contact any one of the following after 7PM :
a. Mr. Abhijit Ghosh(9903234055) / Ms. Rohini Sharma (8337088892).

3. Ms. Rohini Sharma and Ms. Rohini Mukhopadhyay kindly agreed to
organize cultural events by lending their expertise to train EGV
children. Parents are requested to bring their children to participate
in various cultural events. Please contact Ms.Rohini Sharma
(8337088892) and Ms. Rohini Mukhopadhyay by Thursday(9 April)

4. Cultural program will be compared by Ms. Rajasi Ghosh Mukherjee and
Mr. Akant Tewary. The best program and best performers will be given
prizes by Ms. Kabita Fouzdar and Ms. Reena Ghosh. We are planning to
record the cultural events and will upload the same in social
networking sites so that our children are encouraged to participate in
future events.

5. A Jhat-pat dish of food of various States will be staged on the
spot at 8.30 P.M. Food will be tasted by children of the evening and
accordingly prizes will be given to the best food maker. The Prize
Giving Committee will be headed by Dr.Kamini Chaudhuri and Ms. Rajasi
Ghosh Mukherjee. Participants must bring food ingredients/items with
utensils. Gas supply with oven will be provided on the spot. Age
Group: 12 – 20 (will be assisted by parents).

6. Participants will form Food Committee in that evening. Interested
person may kindly give their names to be a Food Committee Member.

7. At 9.00 P.M. Dinner will be served. The dinner consists of Veg and
Non-Veg. Residents are requested to forward their preferred food
item(s) to be included in the Menu by Sunday 12 April. Please contact

8. Interested residents may contact for giving any new suggestion/ideas.

9. A tentative calculation suggests per head cost for the total
program will be Approx.Rs.400. We will try our best to cover whole
expenditure that includes food, decoration, electronic instruments,
prizes etc. Final list of cultural events and food items will be
emailed two days in advance for everybody’s information.

10. Children below 18 years will be our special invitees and thereby
no money will be charged for their participation. Parents are
requested to give their names, age etc. to Ms. Gupta (M: 9674162086),
Ms. Rohini Tewary and Ms. Rajasi Ghosh Mukherjee (M: 9903366971).

11. All the residents are requested to participate and pay Rs.400/- to
whomsoever you contact any one mentioned in this note for the sake of
convenience. Please accept contribution of Rs 400/- with a note. This
is for the convenience of collecting money.

12. On Sunday 12 April, a stock taking final meeting will be held at
the same venue and time (7.00 P.M.). All are cordially invited to
participate and take more responsibilities.

Around 50 residents participated in the program. The program consisted
of the following:

1. Solo and Duet dance performance from Rohini Tiwari and Rohini Sharma

2. Recitation - Arav, Varnika and Pratiksha

3. Solo Dance program by Varnika

4. Song by Prof R.N. Mukherjee

4. Musical Chair participated by all residents

Thanks to Rajasi Ghosh Mukherjee for anchoring the session, Akant
Tiwari, Nitin Sharma for arranging the logistics, Prof G Choudhuri for
overall program management
