Ahhhh...oh man it feels good to write one of these again!
Ebullient greetings to the new friends we've made over the summer...and
"hi again" to everyone else.
Eli Jones has been busy as all get-out this summer, though we've kept a pretty low profile. We're happy to announce that our singer, Stefanie Berecz, gave birth to a healthy 9-pound daughter on August 15th. We're all in love with little Angelene, and wish Stef and David the best. That also means we want some thunderous applause when Stef takes the stage again! Summer was filled with a bunch of fun gigs where Brendan and Chris filled in on vocals. Great stuff, but the moment Stef returned to rehearsal and started singing, we all got goosebumps all over again.
There was a personnel change along the way as well. Bassist and senior staff member Jeremy Schmidt has moved on, and is taking on some musical commitments that will command his schedule for a good long while. We'll miss Jer and wish him the very very best. On the flipside, we're really excited to bring Greg Nergaard on board as our new bassist. Greg's a veteran of the Chicago music scene, from such bands as Soulio, Anne Harris, and Las Guitarras De España. Give him an Eli welcome (whatever that turns out to be) when you see him at our shows!
Speaking of which, we got plenny gigs to talk about. Plenny - starting with a few Chicago dates, and then taking the act on the road to Iowa City and Cedar Rapids, and that's just the start. Here are the listings - make sure to catch us when we come to your town!
