Kashmir University to host All India library
conference
Srinagar:
Kashmir University is all set to host 28th All India library conference on the
theme Library Vision- 2020 this year from October 10-13.
The Chief
Librarian Allama Iqbal Library and organizing secretary of the conference,
Riyaz Rufai said KU will be holding this conference in collaboration with
Indian Association of Special Libraries and Information Centers (IASLIS).
Putting the conference theme in context Rufai said that Libraries are expected
to become a leading hub in global information network, advance knowledge
through diverse collections, expertise and partnerships for the economic
progress social upliftment and cultural enrichment.
Rufia
further said that IASLIC with a very strong linkage with libraries and the
library professionals is providing a common platform to discuss issues relating
to libraries in 21st century. He said KU Vice chancellor, Prof Talat Ahmad will
be the patron of the four day conference. All the persons interested to be a
part of the conference or present their research papers on the theme may log on
to KU website for the details and register themselves for the mega conference
in time, informed Rufai.
Pertinently,
Allama Iqbal Library is the only Library in Jammu and Kashmir using IT tools
for efficient Information Management. Allama Iqbal Library which has grown to
become one of India’s leading academic libraries has a collection of more than
half a million items. The services and resources that the Library provides are
the bedrock on which the University of Kashmir community builds its high
