Dear all
Since the first of January 2014 I have finished 60 years of work in research and pathology services. I feel that it is time to call it a day and retire. My retirement will start on the first of February 2014. I shall devote my time to writing material that was long overdue and this will take quite some time. I shall continue as an Emeritus professor at the Institute of Endemic diseases since this is a lifelong appointment. My work there will be restricted to teaching. I shall also continue to provide surgical pathology service. I am committed to publish some of my work in the past 50 years in collaboration with Sudanese American Medical Association in the USA.
It was a pleasure working with many of you. I am most grateful to all local, regional and international organizations that supported me and the Institute of Endemic Diseases, particularly DANIDA in Denmark, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) International and Drugs for Neglected Diseases Initiative ( DNDi) and the Saudi Government for funding my research on leishmaniasis when I was working in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. All this is documented in my autobiography which will be published in the near future.

Hat off.
An outstanding, dedicated and a phenomenon professor. We all had the luxury of being his students one day. His original and authenticity lectures can never be forgotten.
I have not seen in my entire career a researcher like him given the limited resources available. I'm sure he is never less than any other Nobel Prize winner it just the fact that he worked his entire career with very limited resources.
