تحياتي للجميع
 
دخلت جامعة الخرطوم سنة ١٩٩٣ وكان مامون حميدة حينها مديراً للجامعة بالتعيين كمنصبه  الحالي الذي ناله بنفس الطريقة. 
شهدت الجامعة في تلك الايام تزوير مفضوح لاتحاد طلاب جامعة الخرطوم من قبل طلاب الاتجاه الاسلامي وبضوء اخضر من على عثمان محمد طه  في  وكان المبرر انه المشروع الاسلامي في أوله والوضع ما بيستحمل فوز تحالف معارض بمقاعد الاتحاد. 
تم التزوير بشكل سافر للدرجة التي استقال فيها عدد من اعضاء الاتجاه الاسلامي نفسه وتم الاعتراف من قبل إعداد اخرى منهم بالحدث بعد ما سُمي بالمفاصلة. 
اذكر انه بعد اكتشاف التزوير وإعلان النتيجة اعتصم الطلاب بمجلسهم الاربعيني المرشح امام مكتب مامون حميدة مطالبين بالتحقيق . 
الذي حدث بعدها انه مامون رفض الاستماع لهم واقتحمت قوات الامن الجامعة واعتقلت إعداد كبيرة من الطالبات والطلاب  كما تم فصل ١١ طالب.  
مرت السنوات وتم تعيين البروفسور  في منصب وزير الصحة بولاية الخرطوم في الوقت الذي يمتلك فيه ثلاثة موسسات صحية في  داخل الولاية نفسها.   
منذ ان بدأ مامون حميدة سياسة الايلولة وتفكيك المستشفيات المركزية لم يأخذ في الاعتبار راي الاطباء الاستشاريين زملائه وتجاهل مناشدات العاملين وأعضاء نقابة المنشأة. اما بالنسبة للمرضى اصحاب الحق الحقيقي فلم يبالي بهم على الإطلاق. مش ديل ياهم ال stakeholder الحقيقيين؟ طيب ما هي الفايدة من الاجتماع به في الغرف المغلقة مع الشخصيات البريطانية المرموقة في لندن؟!!! ولا الغلابة الفي السودان ديل مش قدر المقام عشان يستمع ليهم. 
طبعاً في ما يخص نقابة الاطباء في السودان فهو لا يعترف بها اصلاً. 
 مع احترامي للمبادرة والقائمين عليها ومع تمنياتي بالتوفيق لما يصبون اليه  الا أني  اري ان تنأى النقابة عن المشاركة ولقاء مامون حميدة فالرجل له تاريخ مشهود في أزدراء وتسفيه الرأي الاخر.

في المقاطعه ايجابيه بتوضيح المواقف !
لقاء لن يقدم ولن يؤخر في اي شيء فالرجل لا يحفل حقيقه باي راي مخالف له ..
اقتراحنا باللجوء الي القضاء والذي اظن ان اللجنه التنفيذيه ما زالت تدرسه ابلغ موقف نتخذه لدعم كل مواطن تضرر مما حدث ...

لست من الذين يكثرون الطلة علي مواقع التواصل الإليكتروني ولكن رأيت أن ادلي برأيي في هذا الموضوع 
1 من رأيي ان القرار في هذا الموضوع كان يجب أن يتخذ بواسطة اللجنة التنفيذية دون الرجوع للعضوية كما هو الحال في كل القرارت الأخري علي أن تترك مناقشة الموضوع في نهاية الدورة إذا اقتضي الحال
2 طالما رأت اللجنة غير ذلك وأثرت أن تطرح الموضوع للنقاش فعليها الاستهداء بالروح الغالبة من مداخلات الأعضاء دون الحاجة لاقتراع سري أو علني حيث أن هذا لا يمكن أن يتم إلا بالدعوة الي جمعية عمومية فوق العادة 
3 كما ذكر الأخ اكرم أن مناقشة السياسات الصحية لا يقتصر علي الأطباء وإنما يجب أن يشترك فيه كل الstakeholders بطريقة ديمقراطية وشفافة 
4 السودان وبحمد الله يمتلك عددا كبيرا من الكفاءات الوطنية في مجال  السياسات والاستراتيجيات الصحية وقد كتبوا الكثير من الأوراق والتوصيات التي لو وجدت حظها من التنفيذ لما كنا في هذا الوضع الكارثي
5 لقد حاول الكثير من زملائنا الأفاضل في السودان،وهم من باب اولي ادري بالوضع بحكم تواجدهمم داخل البلاد تقديم النصح والإرشاد للسيد الوزير بلا طائل. ما الذي يجعل السيد الوزير يصغي لمجموعة من الأطباء تمارس خارج البلاد وفي نظام طبي مختلف تماما من ناحية الإمكانيات والكفاءة
6 مشكله القطاع الصحي كما تعلمون ناتجة في المقام الأول من النقص المزمن في التمويل ولا يمكن إصلاح الحال إلا بإعادة ترتيب الأولويات بما يضمن تخصيص نسبة مقدرة من الناتج القومي للقطاع  الصحي ومن البديهي أن هذا يتطلب إرادة سياسية 
7 لهذه الأسباب لا اري اي سبب موضوعي لمشاركة النقابة في هذه الفعالية وعليه فإنني اعترض علي المشاركة 
8 كلنا يرمي لإصلاح الوضع المتردي في كل الأصعدة ومن الطبيعي أن تكون هناك خلافات في الرؤي وهذا  أمر طبيعي في اي ممارسة ديمقراطية.

Dear all, 

As professionals , I believe we have to be objective in our decisions .. I personally hate the man's guts but can see no benefit on boycotting this meeting ! 

Let's put aside our feelings & calculate the benefits of attending vs not. 

Medical professional bodies , such as the BESAMAS, SDUI , SPA, SAMA, etc have had joint initiatives with crossponding bodies in sudan to advance medical training & services back home ... We might agree/disagree on z effectiveness of these projects but no one can ignore there minute impact , and one is larger than zero. 

In SDUI & UK we have professionals that are able to steer  the health system in whole Africa , not just Sudan , to better levels ... Let's make use of them ! Let's make our knowledge & skills count , let's show him in numbers & morals why his plans are catastrophic to our people & country. 

Am not sure how z meeting will be run & wether or not we will be allowed to produce alternate viable plans but that's something we can negotiate with the organisers am sure . 

I hope all others respectable members will participate in this debate so the SDUI & UK EC takes an informed decision ... 

Am willing to switch sides even if solid arguments are laid , but for the time being all I hear are passive stands & speeches of hate !

Many thanks to all those contributing to this discussion which has been very enlightening .It has opened up a window for people to see the intellectual sight or insight of many which is good overall .
For more than a quarter of a century the policies of passive aggressiveness /aggression/verbal downloading of frustrations /weapons /physical and mental harm etc etc had been exercised .The results are speaking for themselves wether it being pro or against the regime .
Things cannot continue like this .change of tactics is inevitable for all if our hearts are for this country and its people .
From the discussions it seems to be that there are huge ego issues and emotional outbursts which are controlling the decisions of some .
I still to read objective reasons for avoiding the discussion table !!!!
What harm is expected from that ????
People have sat down with Jeremy Hunt before making their decisions so why can't we sit with the minister if we want really to have any discussions ??
Why are certain people avoiding him ????This is not the time of exercising  personal views and we have to remember that for the outside world in this case Queen Mary University only those who attend will have credibility regardless of wether they are with or against the government
I  am urging people again to rethink their position  and try to look from a different window . If we want change we have to sit on the negotiation table .

Am I missing something here .. ?
Are we letting our people back home down by not attending this meeting ?!
Are we standing against unity and positivity by doing so ?
 Are we going to achieve all that by meeting 
Humieda?!

May you kindly let us know what harm will you get if you meet with the MInister (he is the decision maker  currently wether we like it or not)??
I can understand your point of view about the possibility of nothing could happen which is currently an assumption . I understand from your email that you are referring to Humeida which came across to me as a personal statement and not a professional one.This meeting is with the minister of Health and we shouldn't forget that.

اولا ما فهمت انو انا ما كنت professional كيف في ايميل احتوي فقط علي مجموعه تساؤلات ؟!
جميل منك انت وغيرك انكم تدعو للوحده وانو الناس تمشي لقدام ( وطبعا كعادتنا كسودانين ما بتنسوا تختوا انو الما بتفق معاكم سلبي hater الخ !)
اولا اجتماع مدته كم ساعه في لندن .. عشان الناس تناقش موضوع قضي وانتهي ...
ثانيا مع شخص لا يعترف بنقابه الاطباء ولا يقيم وزنا لأي راي مغاير ! فهو يد الانقاذ التي هدمت ما تبقي من الصحه في السودان !
موقفي من الرجل اني من قرائتي لمواقفه السابقه في كمدير لجامعه الخرطوم وفي مستشفي جعفر ابن عوف الخ ...
الاجتماع عزيزتي .. 
لن يقدم ولن يؤخر !
والرجل في تاريخنا المعاصر لم يسبقه احد في تدمير البنيه التحتيه للصحه وخصصه التعليم والعلاج ! .. 
هو اسواء رموز عهد الانقاذ بلا منازع !
انا ضد هذا الاجتماع ولا يجعل مني سلبيه تجاه وطني وأبناء جلدتي ..

أقترح كمعارضة للقاء مامون حميدة الآتي:
١- التجمع و حمل اللافتات التي تدينه خارج مكان اللقاء باللغتين العربية و الإنجليزية.
٢- التعاون مع منظمات المجتمع السوداني التي تدين ما ارتكبه حميدة في حق الشعب السوداني (الذي أصبح أغلبه يسكن الخرطوم) فكل سوداني له أهل يعيشون بالخرطوم و تأثروا سلبياً من سياساته.
٣- دعوة و سائل الإعلام و الصحف لتغطية الحدث و تعريفهم بكتيبات باللغتين عما حدث و عن الجمع بين الوزارة و الإستثمار الخاص في الصحة و التعليم الطبي ضلرباً بعرض الحائط الأخلاق المهنيةالطبية medical ethics توزع على الصحفيين و الإعلاميين.
٤- أي مقترحات أخرى

اثني واؤيد اقتراح د نهلة والذي يعلن بقوة لبروف مامون وللمجتمع البريطاني والسوداني رفضنا للقائه وإدانتنا لسياساته. ويا حبذا لو صغنا خطابا. قويا بالعربية والإنجليزية فيه تفنيد لمواقفه السياسية ونقد علمي يوضح بلغة ساهلة خطل وآثار سياساته.
واتمني ان اسمع قرار اللجنة التنفيذية النهائي قريباً أنشالله

اويد اقتراحك الجميل و علي استعداد للمشاركه فيه عندما تقاطع نقابتنا الاجتماع ولكن لا يعقل ان أشارك في التظاهرة خارج الاجتماع و زملاءي في الكفاح يتحدثون باسمي داخل الاجتماعً !

مامون حميدة في تهيه وغروره غير مستعد ان يستمع لأحد واعتقد إنّو اي اجتماع معه سوف يكون تحصيل حاصل.
ليكن موقف المقاطعة هذا ضربة البداية لمقاطعة الرجل داخليا وخارجيا ولو تضامن معنا أطباء الداخل في عدم التعامل مع رجل دمر ما تبقي من منظومة صحية في البلاد لافلس الرجل وتوقفت أعماله كلها فبدون الأطباء لن تقوم قايمة لجامعته او مستشفياته.
اتفهم موقف سهيل لكن يا سهيل ان تناقش وتفاوض وانت في يدك سلاح ضغط علي الارض اما نخن فمقاطعتنا للرجل هو السلاح الأكثر فعاليه.

I agree with you ya Osman that meeting with the minister very unlikely to help him see our point or change his. These are policies that have been in the making since the early nineties and he is probably the best one to execute them. After all he is the main beneficiary !
 
If the SDU failed to attend on our behalf, it will be a loss opportunity to show him and to the world exactly how we feel about these policies and about his history. The damage he personally caused to our education, and to our health services. More importantly the harm and death to our people in Sudan and to our children after been recruited in his university to fight in Libya, Syria and Iraq
 
As professionals and trade unionists we should use every opportunity to lobby, to negotiate, to exert pressure and to do whatever it takes to fight and protect our patients' right in survival and healthy living and our colleagues' entitlement for proper education, training and resources

Dear all

Damned if we meet him, damned if we don't. 

However, I recently watched the movie 'Selma', which was a reminder at least to me, about the value of perseverance and the art of negotiating with one's enemy. 

Martin Luther King was pressurised by some of his peers and even his wife to stop talking to the enemy. But he continued as his views were, if he didn't they won't know his point of view. 

Let's put the pressure.

And sorry if I keep throwing the same questions !
I could agree with you that exposing him and voicing our views is a reasonable way to go  ( not calling for unity and these pinkish proposals that lacks main grounds) !  
Is Dr Elfahal happy to share the meeting agenda with the SDU ?!
Are those who are going to meeting to expose him will get a fair chance to do so or will just sit to listen to him praising himself and policies and undermine those who doesn't agree with 
Him ?!
I was really hoping that we peruse the legal action but time is running and the EC still quite .. 
The SDU have had very clear stand and views against Dr Humeida 's policies ..
We need to be sure if we getting a reasonable platform to voice our opinions 
I don't mind exposing him in every way possible .. 
I hope to hear from Dr Fahal

Salamat, thanks Dr Nassif & Dr Hassan on your good suggestions below. I agree with your end goal of confronting and exposing Prof Mamoun. However , I disagree that we must necessarily attend his event inside the hall in order to achieve these goals. Instead, we can achieve your same goals by picketing and demonstrating in front if his venue and mobilizing British and other media while issuing a strong  statement to expose his policies but without dignifying & fulfilling his publicity stunt. 

There are at least 2 reasons why he does not deserve our presence: 
1. he denied audience to the real stakeholders in Sudan and he is coming now to UK after, not before, his actions. Meeting officials of a regime to which many of us are strongly opposed has never prevented SDU in UK or in Sudan from meeting its ministers of health. SDU did that against Nimeri's Prof Mr Abdelsalam Salih in 1984 j SDU Uaj met with Inqaz's Dr Ahmed Bilal as well as Dr Tabitha Butrous. But in all these cases, they (a) recognized SDU as an entity, (b) did not come to discuss a "fait accompli" but m, rather, they sought to engage doctors on some aspects of contribution to Sudan's health sector challenges. 

Now, Prof Mamoun's actions in Sudan and his visit to UK have none of these features. So I still strongly feel he should be picketed, exposed and confronted outside his venue and in the media but not met inside his event.

Sure Dr Tayseer: it's quite simple, actually: he is the main speaker in the  event which is organized by SMA/Dr Fahal. If you'd rather I call it the SMA event, I really have no problem whatsoever. But kindly let's focus now in the core issue: To attend or not to attend; why and how.

Dear all

I am afraid the way this discussion seems to be going down the line of the phrase : MY WAY OR THE HIGH WAY direction. Thats the same problem of the last 26 years .Nothing is changing even among those who have mixed with the advanced societies.
If we do not change our approach to things nothing will change and if we continue doing the same thing over and over again we should not expect different results.

This is a big part of the main issue .Simply because if it is his event then people can say we are not going bcause its his event  but if it isn't then the space is open for a bigger audience and has different implications.
We should be careful about the phrases we use here because different things will have different implications Dr Akram.

We are agreeing on the content but disagreeing on the execution
 
I personally believe in an objective, calm and professional exchange of views. Happy to sit and hear what he has to say as long as I am given the chance to share mine
 
I suspect that the minister is aware of the SDU's invitation by the organiser. I also expect that the SDU and the other organisations invited to this meeting will be given the opportunity to present their case too
 
No harm in picketing outside the event if it is practically possible

For the sake of the record the Dissemination Event is organised by myself from A to Z under the auspice of my Charity SUDAN MEDICAL CARE FOUNDATION (SMCF) registered in England under the number 1092025. 

SMA HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. They has been invited together with the other groups.

الأخت د تيسير، شكراً للتوضيح وما زلت عند رايي بانه تجب مقاطعة الحدث لان بروف مامون هو الضيف الرئيسي (علي حسب الاجندة التي تكرم د ابراهيم فحل بمشاركتها معنا)  وبغض النظر عمن نظم الاحتفال.  وبالمناسبة، اذا لم أكن مُلزَماً بحكم منصبي في جهة ما، فانا أقاطع اي محفل او نشاط يكون فيه ايٍ من قاده الإنقاذ ضيوف شرف او متحدثين رئيسيين. نعتز بالخ  د ابراهيم فحل كثيرا. وتربطني به علاقات تتجاوز منبر النقابة وهذا الحدث. ونعتز بالكثير مما تقوم به الجمعية التي يقودها. ومختلف معه، بكل احترام بآرائه ومحهوداته المقدرة، في استضافته لبروف مامون لهذا الحدث. وتقديري لبروف مامون من ناحية مقدراته التعليمية الفذة وإنسانيته نحو مرضاه وطلبته حين كان يدرسنا كلها محفوظة في صفحة محاسنه. ولكننا ندين وبقوة مواقفه السياسية وأسلوب تنفيذه لسياسات اضرت بمرضي وزملاء ومؤسسات علاجية وتدريبية استثمر فيها الشعب السوداني كثيرا وهدمها بروف مامون بجرة قلم تعامل بصلف واحتقار علني مع كل من حاول نصحه والحوار حول هذه القضايا. 
مرة اخري أكرر: المقامات محفوظة ونرفض لقاء نقابة بريطانية لمأمون ونفضل التظاهر ضده وتعبئة الصحافة والراي العام البريطاني ضده بالحقائق حول ما اقترف من اخظاء ما زال يستتر خلف النظام القمعي االانقاذي كلما حاول الناس محاسبته عليها داخل السودان.

Not sure we are going to achieve anything by listening to this professor who was the main tool in destroying higher education in Sudan & the health system. 
If individuals want to meet him, please feel free. It's very clear the majority of the SDU members do not support the SDU participation in this meeting.

Dear Colleagues

It is quite interesting to read these emails. 

I saw many aspects of the opinions, stands and suggestions in the trail of these emails. I will be honest here as I am confused regarding what is requested from the Sudanese Doctors Trade Union in the UK (SDU UK). 

My understanding is the fact that there is a great confusion between the job of this Trade Union and a political party or individual political stand. What is the stand of the Doctors Union in Sudan? Should the SDU UK go into discussion with the Doctors Union in Sudan in order to come with a collaborative stand and widen the base of support or work in isolation under the influence of  a group of Sudanese intelligentsia that sees itself as the rightful representative of the Sudanese people while pushing for individual political ideology that did not fit with any of the Sudanese Political Parties ideology and pressurising the current respected and competent SDU UK leadership?
 
As usual the Sudanese disease of following or hunting down a person rather than an ideology is all what I can see here! Punishing Mamoun Humaid became the main aim rather that the focus on the rights of Sudanese Doctors, the Sudanese Patients and raising concerns and giving solutions for better health care and delivery in the fragmented, isolated and distorted country of ours.
I think  Mamoun Humaida become the person that is most heated by possibly a majority of the Sudanese doctors outside Sudan and possibly reasonable majority in the Sudan.  Mamoun Humaida is an individual representing the ideology of a certain political party. If he is gone there will be a new Mamoun with the same political agenda and will do the same if not worse! Being the Minister of Health does not mean that you do whatever you want in isolation of the government policies and governing strategy. At least Mamoun is a doctor.  What about if the government appoint Hemaity (Diffaa Shabbi Leader) in his place ..... the least possible loss is losing the possibility of opening a discussion with the Minister of Health (based on the remote possibility that Mamoun will accept to meet with any of us officially!). 

If the SDU UK wants to do something then it should place and evidence based plan for health services reforms, its budget and how to implement it and send it to Omer Al Bashier and whatever the governing political body in the Sudan with copies to all the political Parties. I thinks this will be a result of a workshop knowing that the number of doctors who are likely to join will be less than those who are going to reply to this email. 

Leave Mamoun Humaida alone ..... he will not meet with anyone to discuss any health reforms ...... Demonstration .... I have my doubts regarding its outcome ..... get a full health reform plan and work on implementing it.


Is it high time to work on implementing a change rather than dwelling in the self promoted Sudanese intelligentsia exercises forgetting  its habitual failures.
