Dear All

I would like to share with you some of the statistics of Sudanese doctors in UK that were presented during SJDA UK 1st general meeting yesterday and that will form the basis for the SJDA UK junior doctors in UK data base project.

I would like to highlight two important points. Firstly, the numbers shown are of doctors who graduated from Universities in Sudan. Sudanese doctors who graduated in UK or anywhere outside Sudan are not included. Secondly the numbers are accurate as of July 2017 which means that all doctors who started their training in UK in August 2017 are not part of these statistics.

1- The total number of Sudanese doctors in UK who are registered with the GMC is 1918 [64% males]. Only 19% of them hold British citizenship and another 19% hold Irish Citizenship while 49% are single nationality [Sudanese] and the remaining have Passports from other countries in addition to being Sudanese.
2- The total number of Sudanese doctors in UK who are registered and have licence to practice is 1502. [416 are not practicing in UK and probably left the country but still retain their GMC registration].
3- The total number of Sudanese doctors who are on a UK training programme is 377.
