Picking a VPN/Router

No progress on Freeswan yet. One possibility is replacing the device
(apparently they've failed to get other people on the VPN as well).
I know several ETC members have more experience on the IT side. I'm
looking with dismay at the range of VPN/Routers and thinking it might
be better to ask someone who is already familiar with the field.
Would anyone be interested in providing a ballpark estimate to help me
choose a device?
