Choir today cancelled

I'm going to cancel choir practice today.  We were working on Down to the River for next Sunday but let's push it back a week.  We need altos and hopefully one or more will come to rehearsal next week.  I think Twyla will be out this Sunday so let's plan to rehearse next Wednesday and sing the 28th.  

Our music for the I Believe song has been shipped and hopefully will be here next week.  I've attached the video of that song for review.

We are having choir rehearsal tonight at 7:30!!!  We are expected to sing "Down to the River to Pray" on Sunday and we need to work through that one.  I know that John emailed me that our new music piece has been shipped.  If we have that one, we can start working on it.  We can also look at other pieces to work up as well.

Oops I misspoke about Lacey being here Sept. 18. I will learn not to plan ahead with my girl. We are going to go to Belton on her b-day (Sat.) so she won’t be here Sunday. We need to do some heavy recruiting for that beautiful song that Julie brought us. I won’t be at choir practice this Wed (need to go home after bible study) but I have music at home and will practice.

We are performing "I Believe" by Mark Miller on Sunday, September 18th.  It is important to have everyone there, as this piece requires all of our voices.  If you cannot make it, please let me know as soon as possible.  I am really looking forward to this one.

Choir team members and friends:

 

On Wednesday evening after choir practice, I received a text from our good friend, ex church member and choir participant Laurie Webb who wanted me to call her about some singing proposition. Well, you all know I wouldn’t want to sing or anything like that. Please don’t make me sing..lol

 

She was calling to ask if our choir might be interested in doing a joint or combined Christmas Cantata effort.

 

They have a real nice piece that is about 41 minutes in length called something like “Let Us Sing”  I can’t recall the writer or composer but she was real high on it and said it was relatively easy and fun and has a down home feel to it.

 

They attend the St. Peters Lutheran Church in Copeland.

 

She said that we could alternate practices at their church and then ours or whatever was decided etc.. They practice 6:30 on Wed.

 

Coincidentally both Audrey, Julie and I were standing outside the church talking about some effort to combine with others to form a choir whose size was large enough to do some good choral arrangements and maybe alternate around singing at different churches or whatever everyone wanted to do.

 

Anyway, love you guys and hope you have a great weekend.

Choir tonight!!  We will continue to work on the song I cannot remember the name of that we rehearsed last week.  We are not performing next Sunday, but I would like to perform the next one, which is October 2nd.  We will sing the song I cannot remember the name of!!  

We need to start looing at our next piece and start rehearsals on that tonight.  I am up for any suggestions.

For next Sunday, I know Audrey and Fritzi were talking about a duet.  If they cannot sing, we may need a pinch hitter or two to sing for special music.  We'll talk tonight.

Have more details abt our possible choir Christmas cantata with Lutheran in coupland.  The rehearsals will be on Wednesday nights at 6:30.  They are willing to alternate weeks between FUMC and coupland.  Right now the plan is to sing with the track but may be willing to consider accompanied which would then put us rehearsing at FUMC exclusively to have john available which she seemed ok with.   We would perform twice at each church.  They have one tenor who is strong and the rest are higher voices.  My main objective is to get a head count as to who would be willing. I'm in.  

Let me know. Otherwise I'll harass you tomorrow!!!

And yes, Cody, the Lutheran church has asked for us to join them tonight at 6:30 to listen to the CD.  I am not able to make it, as both of my boys have music lessons.  But I think Kevin also said he was going.

I had originally planned to sing a solo this week, as it is a week off for the choir.  But I have not been feeling very well and need to rest tonight.  We do need to come up with something to sing the next week.  If I am feeling better later in the week, I will attempt to sing my solo and rehearse with John on Saturday.  Another idea I had was we could just sing Amazing Grace for special either this week or next.  I have had that song on my mind and I think we could make it pretty!!

Yall are welcome to meet without me and look into other music tonight.  I just really need to take it easy today.

St. Peters Copeland practices at 6:30

We will continue to work on River in Judea and a lovely piece that Fritzi picked out.  My voice is still in question, but I will be coming and it is healing.  Also, the service this Sunday is going to be a formal one with Pastor in robes.  I would like to see us robe up and in the loft.  This looks better when we have more people.  Send me an email and let me know if you can be there on Sunday.  

Side note, along with my voice troubles, I am also having a medical procedure on Friday to look into the pain I continue to have from the Spring 2016 issues.  I have had this procedure done many times and usually am just fine come Sunday, but I have had issues in the past as well.  But I wanted to you know, just in case.  So, you guys may be robing up and loft sitting without me.  But I will do everything to be there if I can.
