Lately, we've been having a number of issues with our GoDex label printers. I'm wondering if anyone else has had these issues or is running a similar configuration and NOT having these issues (in which case, we could review settings?).
Our setup:
4 GoDex printers, all running over Ethernet (not USB)
8 tablets/kiosks, 2 connected to each printer via direct network connections (no print server)
Settings: spooling is ON, set to start printing right away (for most). Cut after job
Issues: printers stop printing mid-job, red light flashes. Printer must be rebooted to resume printing, but the job is lost. Then we have to go through the TEDIOUS process of reprinting EVERY DANG TAG for the family. ONE AT A FRICKING TIME. (I'm not frustrated or anything...). This past Sunday, one area was worse: the printers would start printing, and then print three blank labels. A couple times, it spit out a printer config label with a bunch of settings on the printer.
I tried doing a print server, thinking perhaps it was related to multiple devices trying to print simultaneously the performance hit was unacceptable (3-5 seconds to 15-17 seconds to start printing the test label.
I switched one cluster to "spooling-spool entire job first" to see if that might help....we had one issue there on Sunday, compared to the other areas having more issues.
