Is there a way for them to either change the names into a different color or something to indicate they are inactive.  I find myself looking at multiple records and although they are no longer active I am going through multiple records with similar names to find out which is the active one.  Maybe there is a button or box that I may need to select to keep them from being included in the search.

Hey, Marsha! On the people screen, below the search box, there is a dropdown labeled "Select List."  All custom searches are available to select there, to filter your search results above.  A good one for your purposes might be "Everyone Except Friend of the Church" – that will filter out all dropout statuses, as well as the status "Friend of the Church."  Then you can use the search box, and results will only include active statuses.

Selecting "Regular Attenders & Members" might work as well, but I'm discovering the "Select List" does NOT seem to affect the search results above; selecting a list results in a filtered list below, which may not be as helpful for you?

I agree with Jerod and had already created this image before seeing his post.  It repeats some of what Jerod said in his post but provides a bit more info also.  NOTE:  The downside to this option, though it is the only way to do what you are asking at least as I know it, is the fact that each time you leave the People screen and then return to it, you must make this selection again (i.e., it does not 'stick').

Jarod & Raymond,

So I learned something new, and yes, having to switch it EVERY SINGLE TIME is going basically kill it for daily use. It will still be handy for some things though!

But the biggest issue I have is that it HIDES those people, even from households. For example, if I'm looking at a kid's family, and one parent is active but the other is not, I don't want to NOT see the inactive parent. I just want an indicator that they are inactive.

What about having the font of the name be a different color? Red for inactive or dead?

I agree that colors or some other indicator would be helpful.  I also wish that users or admins could set the default custom search so that it would stick (yet still allow users to make alternative selections).

The only way you will accomplish the font changes by status would be to create a support request and get it added to the developer's list of potential upgrades.  It could take some time for that to happen...
