hi guys,

I sent you an email, but no response, and I need the answer to my
question urgently, as I want to place an order with you. I've resent
the email, but just in case, here it is again ...

hi,

I emailed you recently about a couple of things, one of which I need
an answer to urgently, as I want to place an order next week.

The most important question was whether you'd be able to fit a female
xlr socket on the back of the Teabox, paralleling the phono out.
Alternatively, if you can let me know what I specifically need to do,
I can do it myself. I have attempted this already (as the phono
sockets on both of our Fireboxes have become intermittent), wiring to
the 2 pins on the circuit board where the phono socket is attached,
but for some reason it wouldn't work. Is there anything I need know in
order to do this myself?

The second question is about one of the Teaboxes we already have - the
LED has stopped working. Is that replaceable? If so, what's the
address for returning the box?

thanks

David

Thanks, David.  I don't know the answers myself, but I've forwarded to someone who (I hope) does!

It's been a long time since I dealt with this, but the XLR you are using: is that an AES/EBU input instead of a S/PDIF input on the interface?  Those are different standards and just changing the connector won't work because the voltage levels (etc.) will be wrong.

best,
  Tim

Hi Tim,

I got a reply I'm Jesse, thanks.

The XLR is simply a parallel replacement for the phono connector, which I've found to be unreliable after a year or so of use - mainly because the cable gets pulled around, so it's not really surprising it's broken. That's why I want to replace it with an XLR - much more sturdy, and no strain on the circuit board.
I use an XLR to phono adaptor to connect to the spdif phono in on the flying lead that comes with the Firebox audio interface, so it's not actually going to an AES/EBU connector.

Best wishes

David
