Some other common applications for RTLSDRs and other networked receivers are ADS-B monitoring, satellite tracking, lightning triangulation, and general purpose WebSDR receiving. Both of these provide the public with real-time information. The contributor also receives compensation for some services, like free premium accounts.

Does ElectroSense provide any end user with such a real time benefit, or contributor with incentives, or is the value proposition limited to analysis in aggregate?

Hello,

We are currently working on our own incentive model. Very soon a new version will be released named "Electrosense +" that it will allow to access sensors data in real time in different ways. You, as Electrosense user, will be able to connect directly to a sensor in the Electrosense network and decode signals in real time (ADS-B, acars, AES, FM, AM, ...). In this way, sensors will have two operational modes: power spectrum analysis and signal decoding.

In our incentive model users will be rewarded based on:
1) Sensor density on the area: The less density of sensors in a region. the greater the user's earnings. the idea is to motivate people to deploy sensors in regions not currently covered.
2) Sensor antiquity: The model rewards sensors that have been deployed at the beginning of the project.
3) Operational time: The long the sensor is operating, the higher the earning for the user.

We propose the use a virtual accounting system based on our tokens named Electro-coins to encourage participants to host sensors and regulate the access to the sensors in a fair manner. Users that operate sensors will earn ElectroCoins by deploying and having sensors operational (according to the main 3 points aforementioned) . At the same time users will spend Electrocoins to access sensors in "signal decoding" mode to decode the radio spectrum in real time.

You can find more details about this incentive model in this paper

Best,
Roberto.
