The opening is in Oracle Database Test Development Team at Bangalore office.

Details on the opening:
I have openings in my team working on test development for the upcoming release of Oracle features, like, Columnar Compression, Flashback, Recovery(RMAN) etc on RDBMS side, ASM/ACFS, Oracle Exadata on Storage technologies, Oracle Clusterware and Oracle Database Appliance .
My team need to develop tools/ framework and test applets/scripts and automate the test setup needed for the features of Oracle Kernel code we are testing. Please note that this is a programming position as all the tests/frameworks are small applications which should exercise a feature in the yet to be released version of Oracle Database.
The opening is for an individual contributor position in Database test development team.
In this position, you will be working very closely with the feature development team to create a test plan/tools/infrastructure needed for the feature. You will also be reviewing the feature specifications (Functional & Design spec) before it is finalized as your inputs from a customer perspective might be important in the implementation.
Our primary development platform is Linux, and depending on the area you work on you may use Perl, Jython, Java/JUnit to develop test code.
What we need:
- Sound knowledge in RDBMS/OS Concepts
- Experience with any of mainstream Databases
- Good programming aptitude (Exposure to C/Perl/Core Java preferred)
- Experience with a scripting language like Perl/Python will be very useful
- Experience in working with Unix/Linux platform, knowledge of shell scripting is desirable
- Experience in working with Oracle RAC/Clusterware is an advantage
Preferred Qualifications
BE/B.Tech in Computer Science from IIT, NIT, BITS etc - one of the top colleges

'Database test development' group (part of the database server group of Server Technologies Division) works on the upcoming releases of Oracle database server, enveloping a wide range of technologies that include (but not limited to) RDBMS, Storage Management, XML, Real Application Clusters (RAC), Security, Replication/Streams, Queuing, Backup/Recovery, Query Optimization, Transaction Management, Performance Tuning and High Availability.
The group with its state of the art development infrastructure and practices, helps shape technology that has been important for a large number of Fortune 2000 and other companies.
The group foresees product usage scenarios, simulates real life problems, tests the forthcoming releases of Oracle database server and ensures that the customers get the highest quality database.
