Shirl KennedyGreetings from St. Pete/Tampa

The current Resource of the Week, a collection of recent full-text papers on personal privacy protection, is the kind of thing we'd typically post on DocuTicker, our sister site that features full-text papers and reports from government agencies, think tanks, NGOs, research institutes and other public interest groups.

But this is a topic of ongoing and widespread interest. We figured that everyone who follows ResourceShelf would probably want to browse these 15 papers, selected by the Future of Privacy Forum, a think tank affiliated with The George Washington University School of Law. Plenty of good reading -- and food for thought here.

Have a great week

 Resource Of The Week

Resource of the Week: Privacy Papers for Policy Makers

By Shirl Kennedy

Extract:

This collection of full-text papers is the inaugural issue of a new journal from the Future of Privacy Forum, a think tank affiliated with George Washington University Law School "that seeks to advance responsible data practices." The writings here are directed mainly at policymakers at the federal level -- on Capitol Hill and in government agencies -- who are focused on personal privacy protection. However, everybody who follows ResourceShelf and/or our sister site, DocuTIcker, will find something of interest here.

Actually, "journal" is really a bit of a misnomer; as it says on the site: "This collection of papers is a not a formal publication; the respective authors maintain the copyright on their manuscripts." The six "Leading Papers" that comprise the publication (PDF) were selected by an advisory board, with sponsorship from AT&T, LexisNexis, Microsoft, and Procter & Gamble. This news story from the UC-Berkeley School of Information Science provides more information.
