Worked like a charm out of the box

First, my creds. I have none! I am a nitwit amatuer, who doesn't like to have to deal with difficult situations when taking shots. I had previously been asked to do some family portraits, and when I had my Metz flash in slave mode, it would work about 4 feet away, and to my left. THAT WAS IT. I really liked experimenting with my flash, and this was driving me nuts. I was really limited with my use of light. I had previously seen a Mark Wallace video on this system. I then searched YouTube for some other videos and became enamored with the PW's, but whoa, the price! Well, I had a bit of good fortune and had the bucks to lay down on this system. I have a Canon 7D (which isn't listed on the READ ME FIRST guide. This is odd, as they list every other camera Canon makes!)as my primary camera. I have a Metz 50 AF-1 flash. I received both packages. First off, the packaging is well done, and the product looks good. Ain't nothing happening to these puppies in shipping. I then downloaded
the utility, as the instructions said to do. I then proceeded to hook up the TT5 and Mini, and the utility proceeded to update the firmware, with absolutely no problems (windows machine!). I am not really one for instructions, so I set both items to the same channel. I hook up the Mini to my 7D, the TT5 to my Metz. Give er a go, and done! I set the flash all over the place, and it worked. It should be noted, it takes two shots to "sync" everything, but other than that, it worked great. Now, when I have to do another family portrait, no more cursing and wondering why isn't this darn flash working. With this system, I will have flexibility like never before. Is it pricey. HECK YEAH. Is it worth it. So far, HECK YEAH. Can't wait to take them out and really put them to the test. Tain't nuttin like having good equipment!
