to Electrodynamicsandmagnetism
Hello
I am pleased to welcome you to this group.
this is about an experiment with regard to a classical attempt
to eliminate a discrepancy in the theory of electrodynamics where a
charged particle experience different forces under identical
conditions.i believe this is something that would have had some
relevance (whatever be the outcome of the experiment) had it been
done
around a hundred years back.
Since I believe that this experiment is
genuine and still undone (but may need some minor modifications), i
thought of posting it here so that we could share our views regarding
this. For this reasons, your opinion is highly valuable and I would
be grateful to you in doing so.
It all started with trying to answer this anomaly
consider a charged particle Q lying near to a live current carrying
conductor (AB).
case1)-> the charged particle Q is lying stationary to AB
so here, Q is at rest with respect to the non-
conducting charges in AB and in motion with respect to
the conducting electrons in AB.
here; Q is in a magnetic field,
but no force acts on it.
case 2)-> Q is moving parallel to AB (with a velocity =to
drift
velocity of electrons in AB), ie, along with the electrons in AB
here, Q is at rest with respect to the
conducting electrons in AB and in motion with respect to
the non-conducting charges in AB.
here Q is in a magnetic field and
it experience a force acting on it.
However, both the conditions are identical,
Q is at rest with respect to one kind of charge
and in motion with respect to the other (opposite) kind of charge
in case 1) the current is caused by the flow
of
electrons and in case2) current is caused by the net flow of non-
conducting charges
but different forces acts on Q
in case 1 and 2 which can be measured physically.
This anomaly is tried to explain in a classical way and finally
about an experiment which should help in this.
since google groups does not support graphics, I have made a pdf file
regarding this. Would you please download this pdf file from files
section of this group
and post your valuable opinions and suggestions regarding
this
and i will be extremely grateful to you in doing so. Thank you.
