I purchased a sbms to use on my rv. I have 4 lg 360w panels in 2 parallel strings. Wanting to achieve the best energy harvest.l purchased 2 mppt 30amp controllers.I regret not buying 2 dssr's to do back to back comparison. Would you be able to run thru pro's and cons of each style of charger. And % differences
Temp hot/cold
Cloud cover
Sun angle
Dawn and dusk
Have a gut feeling your units would have times where they could out perform mppt ( no dc to dc)
Cheers Terry
P.s. tropical australia

Darren on the YouTube channel Bused_As, based in NZ, has done some videos comparing his DSSR with an MPPT - amongst a few others about SBMS0 worth watching.

I also asked a similar question here in the forum about using the DSSR instead of an MPPT and Dacian explained some info in his replies there... I'd post a link but my internet is a bit slow right now and my partner is champing at the bit to leave the house. ;-)

DSSR and MPPT are pretty similar in overall efficiency, as far as I can tell - MPPT works a little better in full sun conditions and DSSR works a little better in low sun conditions (if I understand it correctly), but the difference is marginal.  MPPT costs a lot more, and the controllers will wear out faster.  DSSR requires particular panels and wiring that's not as convenient.

I used a Morningstar PWM for about 4 years, 2 Victron MPPTs for about 2 years and now DSSR20 since 4 months.
With the Morningstar and Victrons I never came close to the maximum power from the installed panels, even if batteries were highly discharged in April.
This summer (!) I got about 1820W (66A) out of my 1960W (nominal) power from the panel array.
So I am very pleased with the outcome :-)
