Well my 16 x 280ah Grade A EVE Cells arrived and I put the system to work in my 5th Wheel.  They all arrived in perfect condition and all at the exact same voltage.   They appear to be quite balanced as I did not top balance them before hooking them up 2P8S...I figured that if they were really out of balance then I would allow the solar to charge them up and then I would top balance after that, but the SBMS0 is doing a great job of keeping them balanced on the way up!  For those wondering, I bought the cells from Shenzhen Qishou Technologies off of Alibaba.   This is the same supplier that Andy on The Off Grid Garage on Youtube uses.

I'm in Saskatchewan Canada with 2640 watts of solar (8 x 330w).  I had as much as 38a coming in which isn't too bad for Oct and some of my panels are sloped towards the north right now.

Everything appears to be working fine.

Just 2 issues...

1.  Other than rebooting the system how do I get into the other menus?  As I need to ensure the EXT 4, 5, and 6 are set correctly.

2.  I have the WIFI addition but when I go to connect to it, it is looking for a password.  Everything I have read says the default is no password.  I even tried just pressing enter but it really wants a password?

I know there is a huge debate on whether to compress the cells or not, but as these are in an RV so I need to control movement.  I placed 1/8" plywood between each cell that has been cut out to resemble a 1" picture frame.  Inside the void I placed 3/16" rubber that compresses to 1/8" as I compress the pack.  This allows me to compress the cells to control movement but still allows the cells to increase in size as they get filled up.

I'm waiting for the new Victron 24v 3000 Multiplus 2x 120v inverter which should be out late this year or early in 2022.  I'm also waiting on delivery of a resistor for a pre-charge line and a temperature module for the low temp cut off.

Still need to do some cable management with the battery ribbon and all the fine wires!

From SBMS0v03d.pdf    Section : 9 WiFi   The default password is "electrodacus"

To get to other menus press the back button .. It can  take a little getting used to the buttons.

Keep you finger on the button in this case back button < to get to main menu. Buttons will not produce an interrupt so you need to have the patience to wait until SBMS will read the button touch input may be even a quarter of a second.  Nothing will happen if you keep your finger for longer like a second or two  as it will only count as one press.
I know people now got used with cellphones and they push on touch buttons as if they are super hot :) but this is a safety critical device and has more important job that to instantly respond to a key press. Once you get used with that you can get to any menu.
To permanently save EXT IOx after you set them go to Device Settings and push the Save device settings button this will store the setting in a flash memory si even after a power cycle the EXT IOx settings will be the same.

Only 38A form 8 panels is not OK. Are you sure you have the panels installed correctly ? You should see around 80A from those panels even above that close to 90A as it gets colder.
Hope you did not connect groups of two panels in series as you can damage the DSSR20.

It was around 4 PM and 27 degrees Celsius out on Oct 3rd.   I do not have a full profile RV and thus the rear 2 groups of panels are actually sloped towards the north.   Definitely hooked up in parallel.

My only other thought would be my shunt settings...I have 2 x Riedon 200a 100mv shunts.

Then it will make sense due to orientation.  4PM is fairly late peak is around 1PM to 2PM and sun angle is fairly low now here. My panels are tilted at 70 degree south and I see around 8 to 9A in this period from each of my 260W panels.

This is my RV out in front of my shop...the front is pointing almost almost due south and the RV is perfectly level (parking spot slopes down towards the front of the RV).   I did experiment the other day with lowering the front of the RV to get a better angle on the panels and I did see close to a 10a improvement.  As you can see...this is probably the worse situation for the panels when it comes to solar gain!

Dan,

It's Allen here. I dearly hope this is Dan as in Dan and Joyce that Marilyn and I met down in Parker Arizona in February of 2024. I lost your contact info. I have sold the truck camper (though I kept the BBQ platform and the bag you sewed me) and I am now about to build out a system for our new travel trailer. I hope you get this and reach out back.
