Hi,
I'm thinking about installing a hybrid 3-phase system with 3 Victron 24V multiplus-ii inverters and I'm stuck at what solar panels I should choose. The setup I'm thinking right now is a SMBS0 and the DSSR50 like the example circuit in the DSSR50 manual on page 3.
The question I have is that the Voc for most panels is usually above the input voltage range of the Victron multiplus 24V, which is according to spec 19-33V. I was looking at Longi LR5-54HPH solar panel which has 37.25Voc under STC, and 31.25Vmp. I'm thinking this panel should be good for using it with DSSR50s and a 24V setup, but I'm concerned it would trip the inverters or maybe even damage them since Voc of the panels is technically 4V over 33V.
I'm thinking that this could happen: When the DSSR50 turns on a panel that was previously disconnected, but is in full sun, this string would technically be Voc. Then the voltage would jump up for a few milli/micro seconds at the input side of the inverter before current starts flowing, maybe causing an error for the inverter.
Is this a real issue? I see that a Victron inverter is being used in the example system images for the SBMS0 manual, so I'm thinking it should be fine. But I want to check if this is a real issue or not before buying anything so I'm certain they play well together.
Thanks to Electrodacus for making the SBMS and maintaining it years after you built your house, even during chip shortage and everything that is going on in the world right now.
