So I have Electrodacus working fine with solar and shore power for charging

However i cant seem to figure out to enable inverter on battery alone and want to elimiate if I have a setting or connection wrong with Electrodacus

if I am connected to shore my AC1 output of Victon goes to my distribution panel and I get power (connected light bulb) and also if I use my AC2 which is a direct pass through works fine also - so I know my connections seem ok

The Victron whilst connected to shore shows via Cerbo  its in Passthrough mode

With shore disconnected i dont see any power to the Multiplus and I cant seem to turn it on

Where do I start ?

wiring diagram in case thats usefull and a few shots of the actual installation (do judge the ugly crimp for the fridge connection was a quick test to replaced once its in a proper home )

can pay particular attention to the optocoupler connections (my EXTIO3)  - one on top is Multiplus one below is the BP which i know works as that's powering my DC load

Paul,

Have you setup the Victron Asistant on your Multuiplus ?
Is grid charging working ? controlled by EXT IO5 set as type 1 ?
Are you sure you selected AUX2 in Victron assistant and not the  Temperature sense input as shown in Victron example https://www.victronenergy.com/upload/documents/Manual-Connecting-other-lithium-battery-systems-to-Multis-and-Quattros-EN.pdf

Hi Dacian

I set up the 2 signal assistant in the multplus if that is what you mean yes - i don't need any other ones active correct?
This is van but  yes I plug in shore power and it will charge just fine
I am  sure I have the AUX 2 set and not temp but will check this (waiting on delivery of a MK3-USB) - I mean there might be a chance I have the AUX 1 and AUX 2 switched some how

I feel like this has only happened since I have been fully charging the battery (i got solar panels configured and installed finally)  - maybe there is a setting buried in the Multiplus that is locking things out ?

looking at this table below what would you recommend for nominal 12V 560aH EVE Lithium Iron Phosphate pack - I am using default settings on SBMS

As ever appreciate your support - really happy so far but I tell you the Victron stuff although nice does seem to all play nice together  - ps I do have a shunt on the negative side that maybe V is being fed to the Cerbo and is then interacting with the MUltiplus ?

The default settings will work just fine probably in your case default will be 14.2V as voltage will never get there before SBMS will stop charging.

Assuming AUX2 is what you set to control the inverter ON/OFF then if AUX2 is open circuit inverter will be OFF and when AUX2 is short circuit inverter will be ON
The EXT IO3 will be short circuit if all is OK with battery no errors. The 871 ch 2 seemed to be on/shorted so if wires are OK the inverter should be ON (allow discharge).
It is most likely that you flowed the example when setting the example and set Temp sense instead of AUX2 to control the inverter ON/OFF.

To test can i jumper the AUX2 at the multiplus directly (i can't turn off two wire until Saturday ) - this would take out the SBMS as the issue no?

Just to make clear the Multiplus was working with the same connections for AUX 1 and Aux2 present and two wire set up months ago - this inability to power on the Multiplus is a new issue

Yes you can jumper the AUX2 to test. I did not know this is a new issue. I will suggest testing the wires between 871 and AUX2 as if one of them is open circuit (not making contact) it will not be able to close the circuit.
In your photo assuming is a new photo since your problem the red LED on the 871 was lit so it can only be the wires between AUX2 and 871 that are the problem.

No the picture is actually new - so it suggests the issue is not the octooupler and by inference not the SBMS

ps EXT just completes a circuit and don't need to show a voltage , i sort of thought you had to respect a +-ve and -ve connection
as you see I have the 871 connected to ground

On the input of the 871 there is a voltage (the battery voltage trough 1kOhm resistor) and then trough EXT IO3 that is like a switch then trough the 871 input infrared diode then trough the red LED and then trough a 3Kohm resistor on the board to GND.
Since the red LED was illuminated on both channels it means there is no problem with SBMS0 or any wires up to that point.
Problem can only be on the output side where you have the 871 output and the wires going to AUX 2 and BP220
Thus the most likely issue if it worked before now is one of the two wires connected to AUX2 is not making contact (open circuit).

I figured out the issue - I had removed and incorrectly re installed the AUX2 wires with reverse polarity (in a hurry I had not respected my wiring colors when I first installed and forgotten that) and when I later moved and reinstalled the Multplus end  it did not match - Lesson learned here...

Sorry for the confusion and support

I will be looking at my seperate deployables next so will need to sdd to the DSSR50 with another charge controller (i have a DSSR20 but understand it wont handle 500W) and will do this via the DEXT16 and most likley a Victron MPPT 10/30 -  can you share a diagram with a DSSR20/ and or Victron MMPT and DSSR50 connections to the DEXT16 and maybe explain how the VE direct is supposed to work

DSSR20 can handle 20A and DSSR50 50A so DSSR20 can only handle 500W PV array with a 24V battery not with a 12V one.
To control ON/OFF the Victron MPPT you need a Victron non inverting remote on/off cable  https://www.victronenergy.com/cables/ve-direct-non-inverting-remote-on-off-cable
Then RCBatt+ from DEXT16 will connect to Batt (grey connector) on the DSSR20,  RC- on the DSSR50 and yellow wire on the Victron remote on/off cable.
