WIFI Client mode SBMSO v02

Does the v02 have a client mode?

if not, is it possible to upgrade just the wifi module or is a v03 SBMSO needed?

Yes you can update just the WiFi module firmware https://github.com/armageddon421/electrodacus-esp32

You can not install the v03 WiFi/USB module due to physical dimensions other than that it will work if plugged in the 16pin connector.
