SBMS0 Type 5 with Blue Sea 7702 ML-RBS

Hi Dacian,

I plan to use EXTIO6 Type 5 as the final emergency battery disconnect with a Blue Sea 7702 ML-RBS (24 V).

Unlike the 7713 discussed in several threads, the 7702 uses separate momentary CLOSE and OPEN control inputs. I only want the SBMS0 to automatically OPEN the 7702 on a Type 5 fault; reclosing should always be manual.

Is there a simple interface you recommend for converting the Type 5 transition from closed to open into a single momentary OPEN command for the 7702?
Or would you recommend a different approach with this particular ML-RBS model or alternative models?

Type 5 is always close circuit in normal operation and will transition from close circuit to open when there is a fault.

All you need to do is fix the fault so that type 5 closes again and then manually provide a pulse to close input so 7702 closes the contact.

There is no need for any extra circuit the EXT IO6 set as type 5 can be directly connected to OPEN control input of the 7702. When the transition of the IO6 from close to open happens the 7702 will trip to OPEN.

So you will have a 1KOhm resistor (1W resistor to handle possible short to GND) connected to Battery+ then the other side of the resistor trough a signal wire gets connected to EXT IO6+  and then EXT IO6- connects to the 7702 Open signal.

The 7702 will change state from CLOSED to OPEN when the signal transitions from 24V to 0V.
