Hi all,

within the last days I´ve discovered a problem with my multiplus 2 -24V and SBMS.
It was working fine for several months.
I have close to 5KW solar and 1120Ah battery.

When I configured the system, all was okay and i tested HVD and LVD several times.
In the meantime my batterys is not getting full during the day, due to german winter.

I need to run a generator with fuel twice as I´m fully off-grid.
I have the multiplus connected to the generator and two 24V victron charger with each 16A. The two victron smart charger work fine.

But the multiplus is only covering the load and is not charging the battery.
I know, this is a multiplus configuration issue and I need to tell it, that I have a battery.
Seems I did something wrong. Also todo when starting victron connect and ve configure, but required an update and I lost all my config....

Can someone help me out on how to get the multiplus setup in this scenario?
I will start digging on my own as well, but we have so many good docs around... Maybe someone has something for me here?

All the best to all of you

Brend,

Not many people have multiplus II as this is newer but I thin the same document should be valid for configuring the assistant https://www.victronenergy.com/upload/documents/Manual-Connecting-other-lithium-battery-systems-to-Multis-and-Quattros-EN.pdf
All settings should be like in that document except for last two where you will need to select Disable charger.

Hi Brend, I also bought the Multiplus II and still playing with it. I bought the MK3 USB interface to program it and it is working well. I adjusted the voltage to 220v (Argentina) since it came configured with 230v. I have a Mac but had to borrow a windows machine for the initial setup since the VictronConnect program that works on Mac has limited functionality. Screen Shot 2021-12-12 at 10.22.26.png

In the picture you see the VictronConnect app on my mac. It says Load below threshold since at the moment there is no load in the inverter. It is interesting that when there is no load the Multi reduces de voltage to 176v or something.

The only thing I am yet to do is to configure the ON/OFF so SBMS120 can turn the inverter off fully to do a zero offset calibration and the shunt can measure correctly.

I"ll post the results.

Sergio,
that reduced AC voltage with no load is pretty likely due to activated AES (power saving).

Best,
Nils

Dear all,

today it seems i fixed my issue with the charging part. At least partial....
Keep in mind that not all options seem to be availble within the new victron connect software. I needed to use the ve.configure software (win95 style) to be able to configute the control via my SBMS0.
Esp. the LVD is very important. Test it carefully, to not ruin your cells!

My multiplus seems to still have some charging limit. At least it did not charge with more then 30A... It is not so easy to find the correct options within ve.configure victron victon via PC and the smart adapter via mobile phone.

At least I can charge with 1KW now. Will continue my tests / trys.

Big thank you to all of you

Bernd

Bernd,

the Multiplus II (24 V - I assume) should be able to charge with 70 A. By standard the charging limit is set to 30 or 35 A. You have to adapt that in the charging tab of Ve.Configure3 as well. The Multiplus II will max out at whatever value is set here. Of course, your generator must be able to handle the additional load. :)

Good luck,
Nils

PS: I am using a Multiplus (1), but I guess the good old Ve.Configure software GUI will be more or less the same.
