Dr Simon Harrison, Dr Simon Harrison has over 25 years of experience in power generation, transmission and distribution engineering worldwide, with particular interest in power system planning, energy and economics, the development and financing of thermal, hydro, renewable and nuclear generation projects, major transmission development, smart grids, and the engagement of the private sector in utility infrastructure. He is a Fellow of the IET (FIET), Vice President of the IET and Chairman of its energy policy panel. | ||||
About the lecture | ||
While problems related to supply and reach of electricity have always been there, India woke up to its biggest power crisis in July 2012 with the largest power outage in history when the Northern Grid collapsed and 620 million people were affected. The IET India Energy Lecture aims to explore the challenges and solutions of transitioning to Electricity 2.0, with insights from Dr. Simon Harrison, Director, Power at global engineering, Mott MacDonald.
