I like to think that our group is "politically non-partisan" and interested in the technical side of driving ecologically. Several years ago, I created a T-shirt that says "Saving the Planet - One Plug at a Time". However, the truth of the matter is that today, about 5 years later, we no longer have the luxury of time on our side and we cannot wait to change one plug at a time. We must change 10,000 plugs at a time if we are to save the environment for our grandchildren.
The only way to accomplish this is with the serious involvement of our governments.
- We need legislation;
- We need rebates on clean cars & clean technology;
- we need "fee-bates" on gas guzzlers & dirty technology;
- we need tax deductions;
- we need government leadership.
So, please allow me to make some political suggestions just before we head to the voting polls between now and Thursday, June 12th.
- Only the Liberal, NDP and Green Party support the $8500 Provincial Rebate on Electric Cars;
- The PC Tory Government will remove this rebate if they take power;
- Only the Liberal, NDP and Green Party support the Solar & Wind Energy "FIT" & "Micro-FIT" programmes;
- The PC Tory Government will remove these programmes if they take power.
How ever you vote, be sure to vote ...
