Personally - I can
say that at EV Fest 2012, there was a great interest in the RAV4 EV, and a big
backlash at Toyota (Reps at the show) for not allowing sales of it in Ontario,
at least - where it was made! In reviewing it in online stories, it seems the
only Error made by Toyota: Limiting it's availability to California, Limiting it
to Just AC Only Charging with no DC Quick Charger Access (Either CHAdeMO, or
even SAE-CCS), or Supercharger Access, and - telling everyone - they don't like
EV's for general vehicles, only for short range commuters.
Since we have seen
what Tesla has discovered with the new Dual Motor, and the enhanced range that
delivered, among other elements, Toyota could also develop improved Driveline
Systems in Battery Electric Vehicles as well, if they were not distracted by a
little thing called Hydrogen, and - the '5 minute Gas & Go' which is
generally not true even in the gas world, in reality!
