BloodConnect
invites you to
The Summer Internship program

"It was a night so beautiful that your soul seemed hardly able to bear the prison of the body." -W. Somerset Maugham.

According to WHO data, India faces a shortage of 3 million blood units. This shortage can easily be eliminated if only an additional 2% of India's youth donates blood. To make this possible, BloodConnect acts as a channel connecting voluntary blood donors with those who need blood. It is a youth-run organization and provides free help and specially works to target the poor and the needy. Since its inception, the organization has grown a lot in terms of working for this cause. BloodConnect has developed a 360 degree solution to the problem of blood shortage. Starting from IIT Delhi seven years back, BloodConnect has its presence in 20+ cities now.

About the internship
The intern, during the course of the program, will witness the problem of blood shortage and the effects it has on lives. The intern will be expected to work in the following areas:

1) RWAs Exploration
Number of donations in an individual RWA (Resident Welfare Association) camp is usually very low. With the aid of interns, we will mark certain commonplaces like Temple, parks etc. where turnout will be more. The intern will also undertake a general survey in the area which will give us the popular opinion regarding blood donation in that particular locality. It will help in knowing where the people are willing to donate and where blood donation is a myth so that steps can be taken accordingly.

2) Schools Exploration
The objective here is to target a passion for blood donation in school kids of class 11 and 12, who will soon become eligible to donate. The primary task of the intern will be to design awareness activities for school students and implement them in schools.

3) Other Ground activities
BloodConnect experiences acute volunteer crunch during summers which leads to many emergency cases left unhandled and decrease in the number of Voluntary donations. To battle this, the intern will be handling the ground activities like helpline, attending camps etc. We can also have them compile and filter the database and have donor hunts in places like Rahgiri to be able to effectively help in emergency cases.

4) Online Media
Online Media has become a prominent means of awareness in the recent times. The video featuring thalassemia patients, Blood Banks, blood shortage stories will act as a crowd puller and help the population getting aware about the current scenario of blood shortage. The interns will brainstorm ideas and write well-structured scripts for the video. If the recording of video is possible over the course of their internship, they will also be helping with setups.

The internship can be done in any/both of the following slots:
Slot 111th May 2017 to 10th June 2017
Slot 215th June 2017 to 14th July 2017

The interns will be able to claim NSS hours/ PESR credits and a certificate approved by the President of BloodConnect on successful completion of the internship. Special Recommendation will be provided by BloodConnect for the best interns.

Anyone can apply Here before the midnight of 17th April 2017 for Slot 1 and 15th May 2017 for Slot 2.
