Star / Delta connections for energy saving

I have a 132 kW screw compressor motor of Siemens make with a star
delta starter. I want to convert the starter so that the motor gets
connected as Star when unloaded & gets connected as Delta when loaded.
The currents have been checked by making connections temporarily. The
results are very encouraging & result in tremendous energy saving.
Whether it is technically & practically OK to toggle this motor in Star
& Delta connections ?
