just got me the battery drum machine software les mentioned + that new
fangled reason 3 , finally, so now i've even more buttons and dials
and switches to get to grips with. have to say, am loving some of the
sounds the combinator can produce . also, the time has come to sort
out a midi controller to get more out of reason ... less mouse, more
spontaneity ! and on that note ...

How are we fixed by the way, for putting up tracks we're working on,
for feedback like...perhaps it would be better to email them..decide
amongst yourselves and get back to me...i just find it a little
annoying sometimes when i'm not gettin feedback on stuff and feel as
tho i'm wasting my time on crap...my friends don't really have the
musical taste to be giving me constructive critisism...they tend to
like the basic stuff i come up with....oh and has anyone gotten a date
for the gig markus is playing in navan?
Take it easy folks...

Upload your stuff! There are two reasons: a) you never know who will
have the best suggestions of what to do next b) everyone here is
working through the same issues and it's always nice to hear someone
'make it' as it were. If you upload and just post here that you did
then it will definitely get listened to and commented on!
Not sure when Markus is playing. Maybe if he looked at the board and
got back to us...
Last night I decided to just use Dr Rex for the craic. In the cold
light of day it doesn't sound so great. How do you guys decided to
keep something or not? I tend to just get rid of things rather than
work through them.
Also Brian, tell us more about the Battery! I upload screen shots by
1. Pressing shift (or command on a Mac I'd say) and 'Print Screen' 2.
I open paint and paste the image 3. Save as image and use the "FILES"
link above.

the midi is a korg microkontrol. got it last summer, but it stayed in
the box til now - wasn't ready to use it 'til i learned reason a bit
first... but...it's not working : ( but : ) it's covered by a 3 year
warranty, so i'll send it back and wait for them to fix it/replace
it .hopefully that won't take too long .it's got drum pads on it which
i'm looking forward to using.
haven't started with battery(3) yet. to get around those reason drum
samples, i downloaded some classic 303, 606, and 909 samples from the
net. v noice.

It was my first attempt at an Ableton mix, so not as perfect as I
would like it to sound, plus it's not as inventive as I'd liked it to
be. But give it a listen, and leave a vote and comment on the site.
You can also download the mix from the site directly using their
podcast function, just click the button and voila ... My next mix is
an attempt to mix an entire set in key, which is prooving to be a lot
more challenging than expected. It'a also going to be a lot more
minimal, whith a few extras in for good measure ...
Let me know what you guys think ...
Markus, ignore question in other discussion. I'll download the set
when I get home.

Just to let you all know, that seems to be as cheap and I got Issue 21
about Cubase 4 as well.
Marcus, great find thanks. Between yourself and Brian I'm starting to
think that I could just put everything on demo mode and impress all my
friends: "yeah I wrote that, funky yeah? Over 200 VST instruments
working together!" :)

Will try make it down to Bernard Shaw, depending on how the
preperations are going for Friday night, otherwise will have to get an
update from you guys ...

Kevin?

Yea the von stroke comments were kinda a relief for me to read...there
are songs i hear sometimes and i can hear reason sounds in
them....well what i perceive to be ridiculously similar anyway...so it
is used by the big studios...so it can't be all bad....just a starting
point perhaps...

It might help to try doing different styles of stuff, just to get your
head round things more..might give you a different perspective...
And I hear ye on the spontaneity bit alright, i'm sensing a monotony
on my tracks...a bit..and i'd love to get my hands on some decks, i
was even pricing them the other day, bless me...Zabiela makes it look
too easy tho...but hey, one can try....
Well i'm fairly sure i'll see you down at Portobello later on tonight
Brian...t.c.

top-line products.

And yea Kevin where have ye been...i was beginning to miss you....
Ah sure have a mess with it and see what you come up with....i'm in
the process of gathering some new samples at the moment, well handy
getting royalty free samples off the magazines, just listening to them
and decided i'd pick some of the loops apart in soundforge for new
samples, the reason banks are starting to wear a little thin...a good
way of checking out sounds in reason tho, in case anyone might have
missed it, is to, when choosing a device, use the very first command
in the dropdown menu...eh whats it called...choose device by browsing
patches....i just found it a better way of finding stuff that suited,
rather than being restricted to particular devices...
And Brian...the track....i like it...did you take it back off the site
again cuz i went to listen to it again, i want to tell you exactly the
parts i liked but i listened to it when you first put it up and can't
quite remember the details...love the bass tho...i just need to hear
it again to be more precise...god knows where it is on my hard
drive...but yea i'm really liking what you're doing...

Firstly, let me introduce myself lads, Im Condra, aka Dec. Im from
Dublin and I'm part of the team at www.abletonlivedj.com
I believe there may be some sort of Ableton Live showcase coming up in
Bernard Shaw some time, so Im looking forward to checking that out.
If youre not aware of ALDJ, check out the forums, full of great info
for DJs who use Live.
Were running a competition over the next 6 weeks, with prizes from
Ableton, and other goodies.
The last competition had great prizes for top 3 and there were only 40
entrys, so there is a real chance of winning. I'd be chuffed if there
were more entrys from Irish DJs like you.
Best of luck,
Dec
