did anyone make it to booka shade last week? heard mixed reports...
basically, if you'd seen them before, there were no surprises, + they
only played for 55 minutes and finished at 2.30.

On the plus side the sound is amazing there and at least I got to see
what I wanted including a remix of Laurie Anderson's 'O Superman'
which was fantastic!

Sorry for not being on the site before today. Got home from my SUNNY
South African holiday two weeks ago, and it's been mad busy for me
since. Had a blast, you should all head down to Cape Town if you ever
get the chance, it's a stunning city !!!
My fingers are itching to get behind my decks again, since I've not
touched them for over a month, so having some MAJOR withdrawl
symptoms.
A bit of news on my side is that I will be playing Tripod's upstairs
floor on Friday 20 April, together with two friends of mine, should be
a good night, so if anyone is about, it would be great to have some
support there. The Plump DJ's are doing the main floor that night, but
we will keep the "none Break Beat" possy happy with our housey/electro/
tech sounds ...
On another not, the massive collaboration that is One + One (aka James
Zabiela and Nic Fancuilli) are taking centre stage at Tripod on Friday
30 March. I saw Zabiela in Cape Town a few weeks back, and the guy
blew my mind. Amazing deck skills, so it promises to be a brilliant
night. If anyone is going, let me know, and if you're not, please send
a short message with a brief description (not more than 2000 words)
with the reasons why you are not going !!! Plus, it's doubling up as
my Birthday party, so all the more reason to be there ...
I've got some reading to do now to catch up on what people have been
talking about ... See you in another post ...
Cheers
Marcus

Oh and hey check out my bebo page in a few days, well i'm hoping to
upload some tracks there...on the off chance that anyone wants to hear
'em....im at http://retrinityed.bebo.com
Oh and brian if you're reading i'm hoping to get round to giving that
sidechaining a bash later on so i'll let you know how it goes or if i
can offer any tips....
I won't make the 20th, sorry lads, I have to head back to Geneva for
the weekend. Have a good one though, I will be at the next one for
sure!
My sister lived in Cape Town for a few years, she has never been less
than enthused about it as a city. I would really love to go.

Sorry you can't make the 20th, it should be a good night. Still not
sure what my set will entail, but will probably have a more minimal
slant to things. As for Electric Picnic, we will be there. Tickets mad
expensive though, and then you have to pay an extra 400 quid to book a
basic little podpad !!! MADNESS !!! So, a tent will be bought in due
course ... As for the line up, only one reason we're going and that
reason is Bjork ... Been waiting to see her live for years, and I'd
say she will be fantastic. I'm sure the line up will become bigger
than George Bushes world domination plans ...

Is anyone going to the Garden Party? I think I'm only able for one
festival this year but if there was a group I'd be fairly tempted.
Still working on friends, especially around the kidney area. Some of
them must get interested soon!
But I have to agree. I think it will probably only be Electric Picnic
for us this year. Groove Armada are supposed to be doing their thing
(Lovebox live) at Ardgillan Castle sometime this year. It's a stunning
venue, and they are superb live, well worth a watch.
Not so sure about Oxegen, not to fond of the line up this year.
ps ... I'm selling a kidney if you need help in that department ... ha
ha ...
I skipped G.A. last year to dance in Nokia tent thing outside of
complex. Guilt will probably mean that I check them out if they do
come back :)
Anyhoo...are u dissing EP Kevin, or Oxegen?? I had a ball at the last
EP, was at Oxegen 2005 and it was rubbish in comparison...oooh my wish
for the summer is that James Zabiela will play EP...ah but hes gonna
be in the states me thinks...I shall have to annoy him n get him 2 do
it next year...I may well go on about him a bit but hes just my man of
the moment...saw some vids on youtube lastnight, where hes doin some
dj tecs....fkn hot shit!! I'll put up some links later because i think
things like that combined with the computer music special with all the
freeware is the kinda stuff that'll see us former students really make
something of all the wisdom Les so colourfully provided...
Oh yea and hey guys check out my myspace profile...its a bit
funky...is there anyone else on there?? drop me a line if u
are...http://www.myspace.com/retrinityed
Later guys...i'm in work...must dash...

Not sure about Garden Party. Carl Cox is a big draw. Seen him quite a
few times, and he is amazing. That's on the DJ front though, not sure
about the rest of it although Vitaic should be good as should the Pet
Shop Boys ... LONG LIVE THE 80's !!!!!

I haven't even had a chance to look at the line up for things, must
get the finger out on that one...been proper stuck into a couple of
tracks...belting them out does seem to be the way to go, well i'm
finding anyway...but i must have 50 copies of everything cuz of all
the saves so guys don't forget your saves...v.important...i'd hate to
see anyone lost a track they worked their ass off on...i've been
there, it really does blow...sure Marcus knows what i'm talking
about..and that reminds me, did you get that stuff back Marcus?? Hope
so...
Got some songs uploaded onto myspace...tho it might be tomorrow before
they're up properly..anyone interested can check them out at
http://www.myspace.com/TheRetrinityedCollection
Not sure how many gigs i'll be going to tho, there are some
investments i need to make in the software and equipment dept so i
shall have to see how it goes...but at the same time i really wanna
get listening to more live stuff...for the alteration factor and stuff
that usually goes on at a dj set...in other words...a whole big pile
of madness..
And Kevin...perhaps I should invest in a roof rack for the drive
home...if you're really good i'll let you be
the (drunken) siren... ;) ;)

Very sorry Kevin, it was there for the taking....its that whole Eddie
Murphy stand up thing...it just popped into my head...
Lets pretend for now its me tied to the roof rack...i'd much rather be
doing that than driving anyway...in fact, i might just...at least it
means i can get pissed and sure then i won't remember doing it,
everyones a winner...

Was listening to "I will seduce you" there lastnight Marcus, hats off
to ye honest to god...how long have you been using Ableton?? I'm
hoping to pick up that AudioPhile soundcard this week too, think its
only about €80 now....sweet...
Have you guys found it easy to make the switch from programming with
the mouse to using a controller??
> ...

Just remember that the Audiphile 2496 is for a desk top computer cause
it's an internal soundcard and has to be slotted into the back of the
machine. If you have a laptop, you will need an external soundcard, at
the moment I'm using an Audiophile Firewire soundcard. It's what I
used there on Friday night in Tripod, so the sound is pretty good out
of it. But for 80 it's not bad at all, I think I paid 120 for mine
about three years back.
Anyway, this topic is now moving away from this threads subject.
As for LoveBox, it sounds like it's going to be a corker. I've seen
Groove Armada play live and DJ a few times, and they are brilliant at
both. Their live shows pack a punch, and they are truely great
performers, so well worth checking them out.

brilliant !!!
