This is an emergency request for groups to sign onto a quick letter to push back against a Republican effort to prevent HR1 from getting out of the House tonight. Request is for your group to rapidly sign onto this short memo.

Hi Everyone—as we know, the floor vote on HR 1 will be tonight (~8pm or later). Right before the final passage vote, Republicans will offer an MTR (“motion-to-recommit”) that would send the bill back to committee and would essentially kill the bill. Can your organization sign on to the below very short letter by 5pm ET today (Wednesday) to share with House Democratic leadership so they can quickly circulate it to House offices to oppose the MTR, if needed? If so, please complete this Google form.

Our below organizations strongly urge you to vote against the motion-to-recommit to H.R. 1, the For the People Act. This anti-democracy MTR threatens to kill the bill and would make it harder to achieve the reform that this bill would accomplish. Additionally, some of our organizations may score this MTR vote on our legislative scorecards, and we strongly encourage you to vote “no” on this MTR.
