Dear Google Election Center API Users,

Last week we released the Google Civic Information API, which will be our primary source of voting information for the 2012 US General Election on November 6.

See this blog post for more details, and we encourage you to join the Civic Information Forum to ask questions and keep up to date on the latest developments.

The API is available now, but please note that full information isn't yet available for the November 6 General Election.  We expect to provide full live data around the middle of October, as it becomes available.  We’ll announce new data releases on the forum.  For now, we recommend building your applications using the test data we provide.

The Civic Information API replaces our previous Google Election Center API, which will be turned down after January 1, 2013.  If you have any more questions, feel free to reach out on the forum.  In the meantime, happy coding.

Just a friendly reminder.  The Google Election Center API will be shut down shortly after January 1st.  Please update your applications to use the Google Civic Information API if you have not done so already.

As of today, the Google Election Center API has been shut down.  Going forward, the Google Civic Information API should be used to obtain election information.

Thanks to everyone on this list who supported the original API!
