How EBJ would have avoided this entire tariff mess

The Hoover Institute ran a fascinating poll, where they asked people who pays for tariffs. What they found:

• The vast majority of people are factually wrong about how tariffs work, and who pays for it
• Among the people who think that tariffs are paid by foreigners, the majority support increased tariffs
• Among the people who think that tariffs are paid by Americans, the majority oppose increased tariffs

Taken together, this is pretty sad. If only someone had sat the voters down and explained to them how tariffs are collected, and from whom, we wouldn't be in this huge mess right now. If only there was a way to do this...
