i've long known about how the doge of venice was elected via a process that included approval voting.


it also included election by jury.

That's fascinating. So in addition to voting on the candidates, the jurors were also responsible for nominating the slate of candidates. And those jurors were themselves nominated/vetted by a prior batch of jurors. It's juries all the way down.
