Hello,

I have a ERR TXF message in the display of the K3 when I hold TUNE or when I
press XMIT.

Also I cannot do the calibrate transmitter gain in the utility software
because of this TXF

Any idea what´s wrong?

Thanks,

Jorge

What filter do you have your radio set to transmit trough?

Jorge,

That message tells you that you do not have the Transmit filter set
correctly - use K3 Utility and set the CW and SSB transmit filter to the
2.7 (or 2.8) kHz filter. If you have the 6 kHz filter, select it for AM
Transmit, and if the 13 kHz filter, select it for FM transmit.

Also realize that you can not set the default (2.7 or 2.8 KHz)
roofing filter to a width other than 2.7 or 2.8 KHz - this is
one case where the width must be set accurately.

Thanks to all for the help. So seems I need to know how to seup filters.

I see in the utility program about "Configure Cristal Filters, but I don´t
know what I need to put there in my case.

I have the 400 hz and the 1.8 khz in the mail and the same filters in the
subRX, so I have four filters, 2 x 400hz and 2 x 1.8khz

Thanks!

Jorge

Did you set the transmit filters?

Hello Jorge,

Both kit and factory K3's always come with a 2.7 5 pole filter by
default that is part of the price. You can REPLACE the 2.7 five pole
with a 2.8 for an upgrade fee, but not DELETE it.

So if you ordered the K3 from Elecraft, when you order kits K3 and
KRX3 and two 400 8 pole and two 1.8 8 pole, you will have FIVE (not
four) filters when you finally install everything... one 2.7, two
1.8 and two 400. The 2.7 must go in a mainboard slot for transmitting.

If you bought your K3 used, did it come without at least one 2.8 or
2.7 kHz filter? No K3 will work without one of those. There's no
firmware setting to support the different offsets needed to support
1.8 as a transmitting filter. It has been discussed on the reflector,
but I don't know if Wayne ever agreed to put it on the list.

Jorge -

Do you mean you do not have either the 2.7 or 2.8 filter?

As Don and Joe said, you MUST have either the 2.7 or 2.8 filter to
transmit in CW, SSB. or Data.

Here's a screen shot of the K3 Utility crystal filter setup for my rig.
I have 2.8, 400, and 250 filters

Hello Guy,

Is a factory assembled new K3, so as you said it must have the 2.7 filter
also, plus the 4 filters I bought it have 5 filters.

Will see for all the help I received here to fix it.

Thanks to everybody...

Jorge
