Publishing Captivate to SumTotal using SCORM

Hi,
We are trying to publish a series of Captivate courses using version
4.x and the SCORM protocol. We normally use AICC but in my research,
it seems everyone has been more successful with SumTotal using SCORM.
The Captivate course contains software demonstration and practice.
The quiz will be a separate Articulate knowledge-based exam so the
Captivate course doesn't include any kind of testing component.
However, when we publish and run through the course, the completion
status remains "In Progress" rather than "Completed". Does anyone
know if that's because we aren't including a scorable object and would
need to do so in order to get status to change to "Completed"? Or, is
there another way we can resolve this problem? Thanks for any help
anyone can provide! We recently changed our LMS support vendor so
we're trying to do some research on our own.

Assuming the Captivate part of the course is it's own SCO, and the Articulate quiz is also a separate SCORM SCO:
The Captivate SCORM publishing settings require that you select completion criteria: either slide views, quiz score, or both. If you have no quiz, you'll have to select slide views. If you don't want to use slide views, the easiest solution is to create a single 'quiz' element consisting of a button on the last page of the course. Click and get credit (sets course to complete).
But be wary, the Captivate SCORM publishing template is fraught with issues.

Phillip, thank you for your helpful response! I did select slide
views as the completion criteria but that didn't seem to trigger the
completion status. I had thought about inserting the button at the
end as you suggested and will try that to see if that can trigger the
completion status. I am not surprised to hear that Cp publishing
template has issues because of all the posts I encountered with people
having problems publishing. Wish there was another product like
Captivate that was easy to use for capture screen simulations but not
filled with so many bugs and problems.

Articulate Storyline is poised to make some serious noise. I haven't tried it myself, but it appears to have a screen capture component and outputs to HTML5.

I've attended some free webinars that were showing courses developed
in Storyline and I was definitely impressed with the tool. If there's
a screen capture component, that's even more reason for us to purchase
sooner than later. Thanks again Philip for the info! Really
appreciate it. : )

As many of you know, I'm pretty anti most rapid elearning tools.
Storyline has me very interested. I've seen some samples and it could
make a big impact.
